"Didn't have our reservation"
February, 2015
We arrived early, thank goodness. They didn't have our reservation so we got downgraded on our cabin. We had to take a smaller one but that was ok. The manager, Charlie, was a little rude to us a check in saying we should have called to verify our reservation. He said this happens to everyone that uses this site. On check out we didn't know how to check out Bc the office was closed so we had to call him again. He was rude on the phone and hung up on my while I was speaking. We won't be staying with them in the future.

Tip: Be prepared to figure things out on your own and don't ask questions Bc it completely inconveniences the manager.

"Dissapointed in our 2nd visit here."

We stayed in a condo 4 years ago which we rated our experience very highly. This year we stayed in cabin 163. So I am going to list the PROS first..... The cabin was nicely decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped. Both showers had duel heads which was nice, as well as the hot tub. There is also a Jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom. Beds were comfy, and the location is always great. It was"somewhat clean" . I would recommend the cabins for families, but definitely not for a couples retreat, see cons below. CONS...1.There was a dog from the owners/office location that was whining at night and in the AM. 2.The staff was not present as much in the office. They have zip lining on the premises and they were offering a 2 for one deal. However the staff was never there to schedule and when we were able to the staff didn't show up, for one reason or another. 3.The biggest problem we had there was we had a ant problem in the downstairs bathroom. There were ant traps underneath the sink. The maintenance guy told us not to kill them so they go back to there nest with this stuff in the. However they were everywhere, on the sink, floor, and shower. So that was a little difficult. 4. Another huge problem was we had bread, popcorn we bought in town, and other food on the counter in the kitchen. The one morning we went to open the bread and noticed holes in the bread as well as in the bag. We checked our other items, and noticed holes in those bags as well. We looked down on the floor next to the cabinet and notices mouse droppings. We called maintenance and noticed they came with mouse traps and had US put them where we needed to and take care them when they were caught. Good thing my husband was there because there would be no way in hell, I would want to deal with dead mice on my vacation. My husband wasn't too please either. We ended up catching 2 mice and we were in charge of disposing them. We also had to throw away 4 full items of food. Had the Wiily's the rest of our stay. 5. All 3 televisions were extremely small, and only one remote worked to its fullest capabilities. One didn't change channels and the other one the volume didn't work, so we could only watch the one television all together. 6. The other thing, as mentioned before is that the way this cabin is designed, it does not allow for privacy at all. So it was a little hard as a family but would not do a friends trip. The floors are not completely sealed so you can see between the bedrooms as well as hear everything. The other odd thing is the master bedroom, upstairs , there is this diamond cut out in the wall. So you can hear everything and it opens out to where the pool table is. Plus the light from the huge window directly across from it comes into the bedroom. The point of having a door is sort of crazy with this big opening in the wall, exposes all sound in and out of the bedroom through the whole house. Plus having shades is dumb, because of the beam of light that comes from the front window. We were not to keen on that at all. Unfortunately, we thought we had a place to make a regular stay for Thanksgiving week, but after this last stay, we will be looking for other options.

Every time we go to the Smokey’s we return to White Oak Lodge. We absolutely love the cabins! We typically stay in two different cabins for our large party and stay the week that includes Thanksgiving. We always bring everything for Thanksgiving dinner and cook it in the cabins. The space is more than sufficient for everyone. We especially love White Oak because it is away from town but not so far up the mountain that you’re scared to go out at night. It is in the perfect location. While true that the caretakers can be a bit gruff, put a smile on your face, make a little kind small talk and I promise it will be reciprocated.

hard to get in touch with front desk, few maintenance issues, plus construction work being done while we were there,we were awakened to a knock on the door and a few hours of hammering, sawing, etc. that the property had no knowledge of yet we were advised to leave our cabin unlocked because they needed access to the outlet inside due to the outside one not working...So we did and returned to an unlocked cabin and really only got a return email saying they understood my frustration...no extra night or anything to encourage us to book there again. And if you have 3 couples there is room for 1 vehicle only. The others must park in a lot across the field or around the circle drive. Also only a loveseat and sofa so it seats 5, the rest stand or sit in kitchen. Hot tub was nice and it was roomy for 3 couples other than the above mentioned issues. A little away from Gatlinburg strip but easy to find and right off main road!

Beautiful rustic decor, clean and well maintained, with a lovely view. We were pleasantly surprised by the extra touches to make us welcome—fresh flowers and snacks—as well as things like books and games to enjoy on a quiet evening after spending all day doing tourist activities.
