"Awful resort for families"
July, 2018
We go ever year to San Diego and have an awesome family vacation. We stayed at legoland resort 3 times, stayed at holiday inn, and stayed other hotels at the hotel circle in San Diego and have had the best housekeeping and room service and there was always something beside the pool for the kids to do. So we thought since we always spend over 3k to try something different and stay at the welks resort since they photos showed all kind of things for families with kids to participate in. We had the worst time at the Welks Redort, will never go back and will never recommend it to anyone. First I’m handicap and the parking was awful, 8 villas and only about 12 parking spaces where in front of our villas and 90% of the times if we got there after 2pm we had to park far away from our Villa and park in the parking of another Villa’s court and walk with all 3 girls ages 8 and under, second no room service and no housekeeping, after paying over 3k we had to take our trash out ourselves and change our own bedsheets (it wasn’t a vacation it was like just being home) Third no good deliveries were allowed other then Pizza Hut , so your force to eat pizza or drive over 30 to 45 minutes to buy something to take back to your Villa and fight for parking so then you can sit and eat and relax, sorry but this place is for (hate to say it) old retired folks without kids that just
Want to stay in their villas and drink all day and night like both our neighbors. Our kids were so bored they couldn’t wait to go home and asked if next year we please not come back and stay at Legoland. You should have assigned parking, room service and housekeeping for everyone not only if you stay 5 nights (we stayed 4 nights) and you be allowed to have food delivered to your room and have activities for the kids. You are not cheap so why act like a cheap hotel and not make it easy for your guest to enjoy their stay.

Tip: Housekeeping and room service for all guest, alllow food service to be delivered, assign parking, activities for young kids.

"Nice area and grounds, room needs help"

We stayed at the Welk resort the 1st week of February. Although they offer many activities, most of them cost extra money and are weather dependent. We’ve already paid to stay there, why gouge us with activity fees? We enjoyed the fitness center, the bed was comfortable, however, 2 accent chairs, the kitchen table, and the vinyl floor were filthy. The kitchen was well equipped but although they worked, the toaster and knife set were crappy. The dishwasher left wet dishes when the cycle was complete. I don’t think the jetted tub had been sanitized for awhile. Our room was located in the Doral building in the basement, we could hear noise and running water from the floors above. Unless you like being belittled, DO NOT attend the time share sales pitch.

This is the best RCI exchange we have had yet. This resort hands down is one of the best. The area is beautiful surrounded by mountains. Any pictures you see of the place are accurate but don't do it justice. The units are huge and beautifully decorated and maintained (mountain villas). I was told the newer units on the other side of the resort are much smaller. We were in a very large 2 bedroom villa with a large balcony over looking the mountains. I am guessing it was newly renovated as it is in the older section but seemed brand new. The staff could not have been nicer, there were tons of activities, a very large fitness center, several heated pools and Jacuzzis. and even a theater with a live show which was very good. The on site restaurant was very good for lunch. The dinner was just ok but may have been our choices. Overall highly recommend and if we did not have 4 timeshare weeks already this place may have really tempted us to buy.

"Timeshare “escape”"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5
Reviewed February 18, 2019 NEW
Timeshare sales promised us escape room activity and when we went to book, it wasn’t available for our 5yr old...the sales girl was aware of the ages when we originally called. When I called concierge to try to trade an activity card for a $25 resort voucher she had to call me back. When she called back the measage said that she would trade my 2 activity cards for 2 $25 vouchers. When I got to concierge in person they said they would only give me 1 voucher. Two different women told me no twice until I had to get mad at the second one to demand the two I was promised on the voicemail. That was a mere fraction of a gift to sit through that presentation after I found others have received free airfare tickets/sporting event tickets/amusement park tickets. Boy did I get taken advantage of for my time. The timeshare presentation was a joke too, promised a 2 hour golf cart tour of the property. We never saw a golf cart or any of the property. We were 5 minutes early but had to wait for 40min until they called us in. There we sat in a dark corner while some chunk tried to hard sell us on a vacation package on paper. Why not take us out and see what we’d be buying into? What a mistake to keep people trapped up there. That was the real escape room! I demanded to leave after 2 hours and they had to bring in 2 more managers to try their hard sell. Unsuccessful. If I would have toured the property, I was actually in a buying mood that day. Swing and big miss for those clowns. As for the resort, it is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need/want. Although we had only warm water, no hot water to shower with. Other than the sales staff experience, it was a good stay.

The kitchen was huge and the bathrooms were too. My kids loved the activities and the grounds were gorgeous. Even though the weather was less than perfect we had a great time. Check in was too long but once we got in all went well.
