from Waitress
Fresh from a soldout run at Boston’s American Repertory Theater, WAITRESS makes its highly anticipated Broadway premiere. Funny, uplifting and surprisingly poignant, this irresistible slice of life features original music and lyrics by 5 time Grammy® nominee Sara Bareilles (“Brave,” “Love Song”), a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam) and direction by Tony Award® winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland).

Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. Faced with an unexpected pregnancy, Jenna fears she may have to abandon the dream of opening her own pie shop forever… until a baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s handsome new doctor offer her a tempting recipe for happiness. Jenna must weigh her commitments against a rare shot at freedom and recognition. Her quirky crew of fellow waitresses, customers, and new doctor all offer her conflicting recipes for happiness but Jenna must ultimately decide for herself.

Inspired by Adrienne Shelly’s beloved film, WAITRESS is an empowering celebration of friendship, motherhood and finding the strength to pursue even the wildest dreams. Order up!

This show is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes (1 intermission). Recommended for ages 12 years and up.

"Waitress-A Must See"

We always take in a musical or two when visiting NYC. Although we had seen Waitress in our home town, we decided to see it again, on Broadway. We were fortunate, in that Shoshana Bean was taking over the lead role of Jenna that night. Both music and storyline were great, and we were so impressed that we have decided to see it a second time tonight. Bean's rendition of "She Used To Be Mine" is worth the price of the ticket, as reflected in the entire house giving her a standing ovation following that number! Highly recommended, as all performers did an excellent job in carrying out their roles!

Nothing stood out as fantastic. The singing was ok but the songs were unmemorable. The dancing was so so. The sets were cool. Couldn't wait for it to be over.

I saw this last night and in all honesty wasn’t expecting much. I knew nothing of the story going in, but I was blown away. We had 2nd row center seats and it was such a treat to be so up close and personal with the actors. Joey McEntyre was awesome and the story had us laughing and crying. Well done! I would highly recommend it.

It’s a well executed broadway show but it’s not great. The actors are talented and their voices are amazing but the show subject matter fell flat for me. At times it was very entertaining it’s by no means horrible but I wouldn’t go again or recommend it over a number of other shows
