I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AND WOULD NOT USE THEM AGAIN! We booked this expensive tour four days ahead. We walked to the designated pick up point 10 minutes ahead of the appointed time and waited and ....waited. After about 40 minutes we walked back to our hotel tour desk who then rang the company to be told the tour had been cancelled! We were told they had tried to ring our mobile and had also left a message in our room, which was a lie! There was no message left! By this time all the other tours had already left and we had no more spare days to book another tour. VERY UNIMPRESSED AND DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS COMPANY!- they could have easily NOTIFIED US BEFOREHAND through the hotel as we had booked the tour through the hotel tour desk.

"Be advised - unreliable and very poor service"

We booked a tour of Pearl Harbor 4 months prior to our trip and carefully arranged our itinerary around being in Honolulu for the tour that day (as we were spending the bulk of our time on other islands). A mere four days prior to the tour we received a call from Polynesian Adventure Tours saying that they were cancelling our arrangements (made 4 months previously with confirmation received from them) because they "couldn't get tickets"! Of course, by that time our itinerary (including flights in and out of Honolulu, hotel, etc.) was booked. They offered us no recourse except the possibility of scheduling a tour for a week later when we would no longer be in the islands (an alternative typically not an option for most people traveling to Hawaii since most itineraries are set well in advance). As frustrating as the cancellation was, our interaction with the agent was even worse. She evinced no concern for the predicament in which we'd been placed and had no suggestions (or any evident empathy or regard). Clearly, they simply didn't care. Left to our own devices, we contacted Hoku Hawaii Tours and they were very gracious and obliging, helping us to (re)arrange our tour and ensuring that we'd be able to see Pearl Harbor on the day we'd be in Honolulu. In conclusion, I would be very leery of doing any business with Polynesian Adventure Tours. They are utterly unreliable and clearly do not care about their customers having a good (or even minimally adequate) experience. Most emphatically not recommended!

"Garfield The Great - best tour guide ever!"

Great bus tour to Pearl Harbor Memorial Visitors Center/museum including USS Arizona memorial, USS Missouri battleship, Punch Bowl cemetery for Pacific War veterans, and historic Honolulu. The destinations for the tour were great in and of themselves, but what really separated this tour from others was our phenomenal tour bus guide named Garfield. A native Hawaiian of Polynesian descent, “Gar” explained that he was not in fact named after the famous cartoon cat Garfield, but he does love him some Lasagna! Not only was he funny and very pleasant, but most notably he was a scholar historian who was incredibly well informed about the history of the Pearl Harbor attack, war in the Pacific, and all things Hawaii and Honolulu especially. Garfield truly was great at explaining all the sights passed while on the bus, as well as priming us for the specific destinations with all kinds of interesting facts and background stories. He also gave helpful tips on how best to navigate the Pearl Harbor memorial and arranged for us to get our tickets extra early and without having to wait in any lines. We did the tour starting with a pickup around 645 AM straight from our hotel lobby and completing dropoff back there around 230 PM. Overall it was just the right amount of time for the tour - enough to absorb the main Pearl Harbor sites, and then enjoy a relaxing air conditioned bus ride up the mountain to the Punch Bowl cemetery, beautiful views of downtown Honolulu, and finishing up with a trip around the capital and its most historic buildings. By the end we were tired but not dead tired, and still had plenty of time left to relax in the sun at our hotel pool afterwards. Garfield finished his tour with a truly inspiring story of his own personal heritage, connection to Pearl Harbor and Hawaii in general, and how he was inspired to be a tour guide there and has been doing so for 37 years running. I was practically brought to tears with inspiration and proud to call him my fellow American! He is truly a great patriot, a highly intelligent amateur historian, and quite honestly the best tour guide I’ve ever had in my life!!!! Overall the entire tour was great and I would highly recommend it as a “Must Do” for any Hawaii visitors.

Limited time so opted for this full day trip. Very enjoyable. Excellent guide in Tommy Chong. He started the tour by handing out a map of the island with many of our stops listed. This made it easy to track progress during the day. Actually just 8 stops including the lunch stop. When booking had option of including buffet lunch or doing lunch on own. We chose lunch on own. The cafe we had lunch at had a number of choices. My sister had fish and chips. My brother had a hotdog. I had garlic shrimp. All enjoyed. Tommy's commentary full of info on film locations, housing prices and Hawaiian history. One of the highlights was stop at Byodo-in temple.
