Best trip my husband and I ever had! It was romantic, fun, exciting, and just perfectly happy!. My only issue was Volcano Bay was closed and we paid for 4 days of 3 park passes and 4 days of fast passes with no access to the park. Very sad because we heard so many amazing things about Volcano Bay! Loved the food and drink! Swizzle was amazing!!!

"Great place, but the most idiotic breakfast in the world of hotels"

The location is perfect, rooms were nice and overall a great place. But be warned about the breakfast. Basically, you need to go into a grocery store (inside the hotel) and pick each and every thing you want into a regular shopping basket, and then expect to spend a while in a long line to pay. When you then find a table, and discover that you have forgotten a cup for your coffee, you need to walk half way through the hotel to get back in to the shop, get the paper cup, back in line, pay for it, and walk back to some other counters, stand in line again to fill your cup... If you the realize you have forgotten some butter for your croissants, it is the same trip back to the store again, another ten minute wait in line to pay for the butter... And then you discover that there is no salt or pepper on the tables... (at least these are provided for free, but you still have walked 500 miles and then you walked 500 more before you can finally sit down and enjoy your now cold bacon, coffee and scrambled eggs without salt and pepper. From a hotel in this price range, I would expect a regular breakfast to be included, and even if I had to pay extra for it, I would expect the experience to be quite a lot more "user friendly".

Enjoyed the convenience of the hotel to the parks. Transportation and accessibility was smooth and seamless. Made the vacation less stressful and more relaxing and enjoyable. Only complaint was the electronics of the keycards did not work very well.

"Can’t wait to go back!"

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights stay at Cabana Bay. All staff members always had a smile on their face and greeted us. The breakfast was amazing!! I’m generally not a fan of hotel food, but wow, hands down, quality is on point and price is fair given we’re eating at a resort. The grounds are kept clean at all times. We booked a family ground level suite adjacent to the pool and it was easy to get to and not much noise, although we did stay during the slower season which was great. I’d definitely go back and stay again. Thank you to the staff members for making this trip memorable.

"Never fails to disappoint except for one thing..."

This is our top pick of resorts in Universal and maybe all of Orlando. We stayed here a week mid February with my 3 kids and had a blast! What made it great? We love the family suite as it is a large space for our growing kids. The room is laid out well and having the toilet separate from the shower is perfect for those busy morning sheen everyone is getting ready at once. We love that we can bring in a few breakfast foods and make use of the kitchette as well as store leftovers in the microwave. We love the pools/lazy river and bonus that they are open until 10 or 11pm (courtyard area closes at 10 but you can walk to the other pool). The buses were plentiful and never overcrowded as they left as soon as the seats are full and there was always another eight behind. It is a short bus ride to the parks too. We were able to make use of the proximity of volcano bay and it is a dream to just be able to walk in. We also made good use at the cafeteria and chose to dine here or take our food back to our room after a busy park day. The food was decent but a little repetitive— we go to universal once or twice a year so probably wouldn’t bother the casual visitor. My only negative which sadly did impact our stay was that we were bumped from our room the first night. We were so excited to be at our ‘home’ and upon arriving were immediately abondoned while trying to check in. our front desk person must have been madly making arrangements as he later came back with a letter and some papers. He wasn’t too forcoming and said that something unexpected happened and we didn’t have a room. I suspected they oversold the hotel but was too tried to try to sort out the details. We arrived late as we were on a late night flight that got delayed however, I called the hotel a few days before to let them know we were on a late flight. I also booked this vacation as a package through a tour operator so if they really wanted to know where we were, they could have found out. Unfortunately, no follow up was done and they didn’t seem to care about bumping a family staying for 7 nights with a late check in notes on their file. They called us a taxi which we waited forever for... at this point it is 2am. We were left at the hotel door waiting for a taxi for so long I had to go back in and ask. The manger sees a cab waiting and asks him if he can take us as we are only going across the street— however we were waiting for a van since we were 5 people and had 5 suitcases. We were entertaining the idea of using this cab driver and taking 2 trips to fit everything when the van finally pulls up. We arrive at sapphire falls, unload all our stuff again to try to check in. They offer us a standard room with 2 rollaways but i was told by cabana bay we we could have a room with more beds since we reserved a family suite. They reluctantly offer us a family room with a rollaway bed. I had to ask for a later check out because it is now 3am at this point and no one will be easy to wake up let alone pack pack up again. We got an extra hour :/ Fast forward to the next day, after some sleep and I realized we encountered some pretty bad service with very little support, I decided I would mention something back at cabana bay. We didn’t trust waiting for a taxi and didn’t know how to order one so even though we had a return voucher, we wheeled our luggage ourselves back to cabana bay. Sometime around 11am we are finally allowed to check in. The morning desk person was a little more honest and verified the hotel was oversold. Still everyone was very unapologetic and really didn’t seem to offer any scincere apology. I asked her if we could possibly get some fast passes to make up for the fact that our check in was delayed hours the night before, we had very little sleep and were now too tried to visit any parks the next day. I was hoping that would help us make up for one less planned park day. She disappeared for awhile I guess to ask but only came back with food vouchers for the cafeteria. Sadly, she said that was all she could do. I just let it go— I am not a good comaplier and perhaps if I was more persistent I could have gotten something to help make up for things but I just wanted to forget the miserable start to my vacation. Perhaps the biggest sting is that we love this hotel, we always felt at home here and return gleefully each year. I guess my experience just reinforced the fact that the feeling isn’t mutual. We are just a number and not seen as a loyal fan.. but just an opportunity to make more money on by overselling our room and taking a gamble on the outcome. Sadly, no one seemed to care or even help us out even a little as we got pushed around and left to our own divices at 2am on a Friday morning in a different county. It was pretty unsettling and even tho I have always been a fan of this hotel I realize it is foolish be loyal to it. Our plan is to return to universal again in the fall for Halloween Horror nights however, we will consider other hotels for our next trip.
