TownePlace Suites by Marriott Tampa North/I-75 Fletcher in Tampa, FL

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights the third week of January. Our stay had no issues with the room at all. The room was clean, freshly made up and was at the end of the hallway so only noise was from a dog constantly barking next door for a few days. One night the occupant had an issue with another guest, loud yelling and a manager had to intercede with him. Other than that, very quiet. The bathroom and shower were spotless, and fully stocked. Cleaned every day, housekeeper Fatamah ??? was great and very accommodating as our business in Tampa kept us out late at night and we usually did not leave the hotel until after 11AM every day, returning to a fully made up room at night, every night. Breakfast, well better than MRE's but same ole same ole every morning, coffee was good though, better than average. No fresh cut up fruit like at other Marriott properties, and the table area was a bit small. However that was the only negative, room was dated but very clean, A/C was quite, everyone we encountered at this property was pleasant and said hello to us during our stay. Location is easy to get to and from, however during Tampa rush hours it took twice as long to get to it from downtown Tampa or MacDill AFB. Would we stay again, yes without hesitation if our needs were in that area, I-274, I-4 can be a PIA at certain times though. One further comment, I believe our room was 216, and the property outside including parking areas were free of debris, as was the pool area and landscape was neatly trimmed.

I guess the it was the only room left. It was clean except for the wall behind the toilet. The shower didn’t have quite enough pitch in the floor for drainage. I suppose this is good for someone who needed this room. Kind of weird to me. The water splashed toward the sink, with the curtain closed. The was basically a small efficiency ( coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, sink, 2 burner outdated electric stove and fridge) with a bathroom. There wasn’t even enough wall space for the TV. It was shoved in a nook between the kitchen area and the bathroom. I kept bumping into it. There was a table, only one chair and a loveseat, no armoire or dresser. The room had an iron/board and a blow dryer in a bag in the closet.

I am a gold member with Marriott, but I had 2 bad experiences with Marriott in less than 2 weeks in 2 different cities. I stayed at a very shabby Residence Inn in the Nashville the week prior, this one was worse! Extremely shabby, smelled old, and very noisy. We were next to the parking lot, and on the ground floor. You could hear people going down the stairs, talking, and cars, pretty much everything. Our kitchen had about the 8 pieces of silverware in it, that was kept in the cabinet, because the drawer had been broken and literally screwed shut multiple times (they didn't fill the holes so you could see the screw heads). We were supposed to stay a couple nights, but I insisted to my mother that we leave the next morning. Pretty much the worst experience I have had in the past 10 years.

This hotel is exceptionally clean,and the staff was pleasant and informative. We stayed one night but you could definitely have an extended stay here with the full kitchen, including full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and all kitchenware. The bedroom part is very large with a large working desk area, full size sofa and a comfortable side chair, plus a large tv that swiveled so you could watch it in the sitting area or in the bed. The bed was very comfortable with great linens. We will definitely stay here if we return to the area.

As Platinum Elites, we were upgraded to a 2BR suite that was a tad dated, but clean with a reasonable comfortable bed, We stayed here to check it out as we will be returning week after week for wife's cancer treatment at the Moffitt Cancer Center nearby. We decided that it was a very good value, upgrade or not, but that the slightly more expensive Residence Inn next door was a tad more comfortable in spite of the fact that it is presently undergoing a renovation. The way the properties almost connected, it could be that they are operated by the same franchisee. Did not sample the free breakfast, but I would bet is the standard Town Place fare that is enough to get you started with your day. Basically, there were no surprises and nothing negative to say except you get what you pay for in the budget family hotel with a kitchen, frig, pool, etc..
