The Paul Hotel is a family owned business which strives to replicate their own family values throughout their organization. Hotel guests are indulged with a clear, direct, and focused attention to their needs. A Paul guest is greeted with utilitarian effort and an easy going atmosphere. The Paul Hotel is home to Paul the Nomad who is planting his roots at 32 West 29th street; in his home Paul guests are the priority.

Inspired by the mercantile history of the Flower District, the newly constructed 21-story, 50,000 square foot building was designed by Matt Markowitz Architects and Sharma Group Development. The hotel takes its cue from the history and character of the surrounding NoMad neighborhood with details inspired by the textures and energies of the city and its iconic skyline. The NoMad areas resurgence is due to the legacy of its fine architecture and the beautifully restored Madison Square Park.

From your first step into Paul's Drawing Room, you will be immersed in the distinctive, boutique character of THE PAUL. The design of its 122 residential-style guest rooms with expansive loft-style windows impart a light and airy atmosphere offering dramatic and unparalleled views of The Empire State Building to the North and The Freedom Tower to the South. All of PAUL's guestrooms are custom designed and softly integrate the urban landscape of the local neighborhood in unexpected and playful ways. The interior design team was led by Ronica Sharma of Sharma Group Development.

"Clean rooms but weird service"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed February 12, 2019 NEW
So we stayed here in New York for 5 nights to visit friends and family that were also visiting from France. The price was right as it was just above $100.00/night, the location was very central to midtown and times square. Rooms were small but clean, with a great shower. But heres the thing, the service was very sketchy. They had a sign at the front desk that said they can order you a car if you need. We thought they meant taxi. We ordered a ride to dinner at Peter Lugers in Brooklyn at 5pm. They said it would be $85.00. We didnt know the prices there so agreed ton it. When we came down at 5, they said the car still wasnt there. We waited until 5:15 and decided we just would go outside and hail our own taxi as we had reservations at 5:45 and didnt want to lose them. The taxi ride to the restaurant ended up being $40.00!!! Literally more than half the price the front desk told us for their car. We definitely felt they tried to rip us off. After that, everything felt super sketchy and disorganized. When I called the front desk for a hairdryer they said there should be one in the bathroom, but there wasnt. They sent someone up with one. It didnt work on the high setting when I plugged it in. Again we had reservations so I didnt have time to call again, so i just tried my best to quickly dry my hair on the low setting and ended up leaving with damp hair. I needed to fax some papers to work and on the hotels website and all its online descriptions sid they had a business center. Well that business center doesnt exist lol. They said they didnt have computers working for guests. They did however have a fax machine in which the desk attendant took me to someones basement office with paperwork eeeeverywhere. But she was actually the most efficient out of every employee we met there and faxed my papers quickly herself. The next night we met friends at the bar next to the lobby to get a drink before going out. The bar tender seemed a bit clueless and people seemed cranky waiting for their food and ended up canceling their orders. We tried to charge our drinks to the room and the bar tender told us it was cash only. I thought that was super sketchy too. Last but not least on our last night we realized we dudnt bring a beer bottle opener. Most hotels 3 stars and up these days have some kind of bottle opener in the rooms. I called the front desk and they said they had to check for one. She put me on hold for 5 minutes and then hung up on me. I called her back and she said we had to bring the beer bottle downstairs and have the bartender open it. Our friend went downstairs but as soon as she left down, we had a guy knock on the door who said he had a bottle opener but he had to watch us use it and give it back. We told him our friend already went down with the bottlea though. So in conclusion, this is a place for a clean room and shower and that's about it. Dont expect anything else regardless of what the website says. I wouldnt recommend eating or drinking here. Make sure you dont have any paperwork you cant handle on your own, dont order a cab through the front desk, and bring your own hairdryer.

"Some nice things but essentially average"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

I stayed here last weekend with my fiancee as we needed to be in the Chelsea area for a party. The hotel has drop off but you will need to park a few blocks away at SP parking on 31st . They offer a $45 rate discount with the hotel. The front desk folks were very nice and gave me a T-shirt when I checked in. I stayed in one of the King Suites which is only a suite in that it has an outdoor patio which isn't much use in the winter, but in the warm weather It would be amazing. The room is very small maybe 100-110sqft , and there are some things that just do not make sense. The closet for hanging stuff has the safe in it so your hanging items need to be short , shorter than a suit on a hanger for example. The heat works well enough in the room but the bathroom has none so you'll have to leave the door open to get it warm enough to step on the floor. Bathroom we stayed in was handicap accessible so it was just an open space for the shower , but the lip from the shower to the bathroom was so low that the room flooded as soon as you showered. There is nowhere to put your stuff. One tiny rickety shelf that things constantly fall from and 1 hook . Not sure why hooks behind the door are not an easy fix, but they have none. Bed was comfortable but the pillows are not great , fortunately they provide a ton of them so it is a wash. Breakfast buffet sounded very good in the description, but when I got to the restaurant which is on the Basement level it was very disappointing. Sausages in BBQ sauce? The staff again were lovely, but the restaurant is not part of the hotel so bring your credit card. USB chargers in the room by the bed and on the desk area . For the price it is decent but that's about it.
