This hotel is right smack in the middle of everything you need in Waikiki! It is right on the beach and right on the main strip of the town. You can walk to everything from here, the famous statue, the famous banyan tree, all the high end stores and hotels and eateries. Dukes restaurant is in the hotel but make sure you make a reservation well in advance of going. It fills up fast with great views of the ocean.

"Comfortable hotel"

Ultimately a very expensive place to stay if one is Australian given the poor exchange rate. On top of that there is the impost of a high resort fee in excess of $30 per day plus two taxes on my account. I suspect I would be reluctant to make a return based on the local costs. Moreover the local restaurants are equally expensive, again based on exchange rates. The hotel itself is quite comfortable and within easy walking distance of the main Waikiki area. There is also the option of using the immediately local beach in front of the resort or its largish swimming pool. The staff I dealt with, including the ones I tried to clarify my account as I had an extra add on day, were most pleasant and helpful. My room advertised as sea view in fact only gave an oblique view from the second tower that is closer to the main entrance. There is a very small balcony to sit on that allows the lateral glimpse to the water, but overlooks the main pool. The room was large, and quiet. The king size bed was also most comfortable. The room was also fitted out with the latest large screen TV. I tried the front restaurant "Reef Bar and Market Grill " for breakfast, but was disappointed as it is a somewhat unappealing and noisy venue.Given I was a solo guest I was seated at a table in a busy thoroughfare because the window sea view tables are for 4 persons. The meal was average and I had to get the attention of a server to make an order. Needless to say I did not feel it a useful venue to return for dinner.

"Good hotel, great location"

Spent a week here for vacation. I wasn't impressed with the hotel at first because I emailed customer service, asking if they could have something special for my wife when we came to the room (which I offered to pay for) since her birthday was a few days prior to our arrival. I never heard back at all. Our room was nice, 2 double beds with a city view. Beds were comfortable but double beds suck in general, would have been nicer to have queen beds. There is music entertainment every night at the restaurant/pool area so I would reccomend the city side if you don't want to deal with that. The grounds are very nice, bar restaurant was good. Pool/hot tub gets crowded. The beach out the hotel was small and the water had a lot of rocks but we never had problems finding a spot. The hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to almost anything you need (food, shopping, bus stops, etc.). All the staff are super friendly as well. I would highly reccomend this hotel!

"Great pool and patio but average beach"

Spent 3 nights here. The pool and patio area was great and we enjoyed the entertainment each night. Be aware that while the hotel is right on the ocean, we were disappointed in the beach as it was narrow and the sand does not extend into the ocean (bottom is rock) and there is narrow walkway to get to Waikiki Beach itself. I would likely choose a location off the beach next time and not pay the premium for beach front.

"Best original Waikiki hotel"

There many new shiny hotels well dressed up but none have the old Hawaiian style atmosphere like the Outrigger Beach Resort. Careful not to confuse it with the Outrigger Reef. This is the best part of the best beach. Friendly staff and good service everywhere and the Hula Grill and Dukes are just part of the scene. Nice views and good clean rooms. The beach rentals work smoothly. We used the V47 club and found the breakfast and applies very good with the even entertainment below at Dukes in a great view. Go for the Sunset.
