Tip: It is difficult to see out of the west side of the building because the lines for the glass walkout windows were so long. Would suggest that they put glass walkout windows on every side to lessen the lines and make it available to more people as the lines are so long it isn't worth it to wait.

"Wow what a view!"

Purchased ticket on line prior to our visit, easy entry & of course on a clear day you can see up to 50 miles they say. You can also purchase tickets there if you decide to pop along but obviously better on a clear day as from 103rd floor if low cloud/mist your view is hampered. Gotta be done while in Chicago!

"Knockout activity!"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

When I say knockout, I mean I was almost knocked out by the waiting and standing in line and standing. My husband was in worse shape than I was...I was not sure if we would make it. There were no seats anywhere along the way, and bathrooms were scarce. At least they were free. But we did get to the top, and we have the pix to prove it! However, to get the good pix, you had to pay another $50., after you had paid the entrance fee. Although I love Chicago, I think I prefer D.C. where the most amazing things in the world are free! Of course, the views were spectacular, and the day was clear, if very cold. I still recommend it!

It makes us feel so small and yet makes us appreciate the beauty of the human mind to perch. Lines are long during summer but fall and winter is not as bad

"It was just OK"

I’m glad we bought the skip the line tickets ahead of time because it really speeds you through the lines pretty quickly. On a cold, sunny Saturday afternoon we were headed to the top in less than 1/2 hour. But for over $100 bucks for 2 people I was expecting something special. Yeah the views are good but unlike other observatories I’ve been to, most notably Boston, there wasn’t much else. There are a few little faded signs pointing out places of interest but not at every window. And no interesting displays with cool historical facts. The glass block was OK but you only get 30 seconds and being on the West wall it was too backlit for good pics. We were in and out in 20 minutes, kind of disappointing.
