The two other people in my group enjoyed this much more than I did. I don't like haunted houses or drop rides so keep that in mind as a context for this review. When we arrived, there was no staff member to take our tickets, so we ended up waiting what felt like endlessly for someone to even tell us when the next 'showing' would be. After waiting about 30 mins, we entered the experience. The first area was a photo opportunity, which I'm not a huge fan of, and took a long time to get through the whole group. You then go through different rooms where you 'learn' about San Fransisco's darker history. To be honest, I don't think they did a great job of telling the history or entertaining the audience but there were a few creepy jump scares (especially in 'Alcatraz'). The boat section was closed during my visit which was disappointing. Finally the drop ride is only about 2 stories high, so even the weeniest can probably do the ride. But if you don't want to, they allow you time to opt out. (I will add that they did turn away quite a few people due to being too large so I think this is in reality designed for kids). Of course at the end our photo from the drop was funny and we wanted to buy it, but there wasn't a soul around to take our money. Oh well! All told, if you've got a sightseeing pass and you're going to Madame Tussauds anyway, this is a cutesy attraction. Not a must see though.

A friend was visiting from out of town so I decided it might be fun to check this place out. In the end, another local buddy came along too and we DID have a lot of fun. The actors were engaging and the scenes set in old San Francisco were amusing as well as educational. Definitely look online for the discount ticket to save a bit. No photos allowed inside but they do have a photo set up to separate you from some more cash.

My kids have been wanting to visit this attraction for years. We finaly made it. A little pricey but if you add the discounted ticket for the connected Madame Tuesuas wax museam it become a better deal. The Dungeon mixes in a history of San Francisco show with some scary interaction.
