Amazing lobby area with restaurants and shops located inside the building. I went to the Starbucks every morning. Convenient location within walking distance of Mag Mile. Rooms were small, but nice. The history of the building is really neat.

"Very nice hotel near attractions and theatre"

We had a wonderful stay at the Palmer House. Building is beautiful and rooms are clean and updated considering the age of the building. Nice beds, pillows and towels. A block from CIBC Theatre making an easy walk without coats to see Hamilton and only a couple blocks to the Bean and Art Institute. Only complaint was our room overlooking a roof construction site next door with workers that started at 7 am (banging on metal beams). I wish we had been informed of that possibility and given the option of a different side of building at check in. Don't forget to consider parking costs ($47 across street $85 valet) when booking room.

"So disappointing"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5

We were going to Hamilton and this hotel was nearby, and quite famous, so we booked here. So very disappointing. Rooms were very small which would have been ok if they hadn't tried to cram so much furniture in it that you had to turn sideways to get around to the bed (and we are not large). Bathroom also tiny with inadequate towel bars. If you want coffee in your room, you must ask and pay for a coffeemaker on check in, which we did not know. I did complain and was provided one for the following day gratis, but what a policy! Lobby and public areas are nice. Service in the bar is nonexistant, good luck finding a waiter and getting served. The cafe service was good and food good. Won't stay here again.

"Our go to Chicago stay!"

We travel to Chicago to to three times a year with family, or m as a quick couples getaway. It’s I delightfully situated if you’re going to the theater district. Quick walk (like less than a block) to and from Hamilton, etc. Their Lockwood restaurant caters to the theater crowd with a special and tasty menu. No troubles getting Uber, Lyft, taxis to or from this hotel. You can easily walk to Miracle Mile or to or from Shedds/Field/Soldiers from here. And why not, you’re in Chicago?! Millennial park and the bean are practically in your backyard. The L is next door. What I love about this hotel the most, is the old feel of it. The 1920s glamour and splendor. The Wedgewood style ceiling is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. I could literally stare at it for an hour. I love the open air of their lobby main floor area. People gather here for happy hour and it truly feels happy. It is a large space! Their drinks and service at the bar is stellar. And the bartenders are the same every single time we go back. If you stop to get to know any of their staff, most of them have worked there for 5, 10, 20+ years. That says a lot! This might not be one of the most trendy, hotels in Chicago. But it is my favorite. It is definitely not the most expensive, but I feel like I am getting a greater old glamour “Im a oart of history “experience in an environment that doesn’t feel esoteric or stale, rather stately, worldly. FYI -the hotel offers tours. The dining rooms, their old state rooms, the ball rooms are something to be stared out as well. They are epic grandeur. Definitely take a picture by the million dollar peacock doors, and sample the brownie which incidentally was created at this hotel. And there’s a full Starbucks on the street level, and another a block away (line inside can be long, and doesn’t offer pick up). We stay concierge level when we visit here and it’s worth it. Free soft drinks, free water, meals served three times a day, snacks available, bigger rooms for peanut more price wise. This level has its own bartender and wait staff and plenty of spaces to eat relax and hang out in between moments during your stay. Dont be surprised if the bartenders and waitstaff on this level to remember your name even if it’s been six months since you were there last! They are happy to do anything they can for you, I have seen them microwave bottles or reheat food for parents of toddlers. These rooms have mini fridges in them as well. I would love to see softer sheets in the rooms, and I feel sometimes the larger rooms in this level are missing pieces of furniture-a night stand or couch, extra club chair would add to the experience of these higher-priced room. I also don’t love Potters bar. They have a tendency to be understaffed and I really don’t like the black and red face silhouette behind the bar-it significantly cheapens the atmosphere. I wish it had a modern-old feel to it-like the rest of the hotel. They do have super comfy couches if you are looking for a nook to order a drink and put your feet up. Just sit opposite of the bar so you don’t have to look at the tacky red backdrop, but be prepared to refill your own drinks.

"Perfect Palmer House"

We've stayed at the Palmer House before. I have to say, whoever is in charge has stepped up the experience. The hotel employees were pleasant and willing to help in any way to make our weekend better. We stayed in a "smallish" room with a king size bed, no view. The bed was perfect for a good nights sleep. The TV in the room is bigger than the one I own!! The room was super CLEAN, bathroom was CLEAN. The Palmer House bar is legendary. Gorgeous environment, beautiful ceiling and perfect place to people watch. Our drinks were made by a master! Love the Palmer House, we'll be back.
