I went on a total of 3 tours with Extranomical. I did the Muir Woods & Wine tour 2x (once with Kimmy, once with Jacob) and the Yosemite tour once (Jacob). All three times were fantastic. With wine tours, I was able to learn about wine making processes, fermentation, and wine flavors—from the guides and the intimate winery settings along Sonoma and Napa. Me and my friends ended up taking home a couple wine bottles more than we had imagined because we were exposed to complex wines that really activated our taste buds. Muir Woods was lovely and a great way to start the day—underneath forest canopy and alongside small rivers and large redwoods. Yosemite was also spectacular for me as well. I saw so many waterfalls from different perspectives, rivers, cliffs, trees, mountains, meadows and beaches. It really blew me away. Extranomical made visiting these places so much more convenient and allowed me to feel as though I really got to get know these areas and their contexts. Jacob was animated, super friendly and provided a really cool schedule that allowed us to hit every hotspot on our list and get the most from our visits. Kimmy was really funny, educational/informational and helpful. I recommend both!

Be careful when booking. They will cancel the trip at last moment and ruin your all day. They did not even offer complementary tour and they asked for extra money. Do it tour at your own risk.

Kimberly was so knowledgeable and we loved her great descriptions and wonderful stories of San Francisco that only a local would know. Alcatraz was also more amazing than we even hoped. A big and culturally rich day.

Wednesday, February 20, 2019 To All Concerned: On February 16, 2019, my travel companion (Rita Adams-Slone) and I were literally dumped in San Francisco in front of the Zephyr Hotel. This tour was “arranged” by VIATOR through EXTRANOMICAL TOURS with a company called GREAT PACIFIC TOURS. We had spent the morning at Alcatraz as part of the tour reservation. We were informed by phone message to meet at the Zephyr Hotel by 1:40 p.m. at the end of the Alcatraz tour. We cut our Alcatraz tour short by 15 minutes to be sure we made it to the Zephyr on time. We made it on time and subsequently received a new text message that the tour wouldn’t be until 2:15 p.m. Finally, at 2:45 p.m. the Great Pacific Tour bus arrived. When the driver exited the bus, he immediately called my name for two passengers. (Although the lead traveler was Rita, my email and mobile number were being used for the tours.) There were several people on the bus already. Following us were a family of four and another couple (man and woman) about our age…nearing 70! At first the bus driver/guide said he couldn’t find the couple’s name on his sheet…remember, he called my name when he exited the bus. He apologized to the couple and said there was a “snafu” caused by the office. We headed toward the bus door to wait. The driver was still conversing to the couple as we walked out of earshot. Suddenly, they all approached us; the driver let the family on the bus, and informed us that WE weren’t on the list…and let the couple on the bus! No explanation, no offer to call us a taxi or an uber…just “sorry…snafu in the office”! I have my own idea of what happened back in front of the Zephyr when he was apologizing to the couple, but, of course, I have no proof. You know, we’re in pretty good shape for our age, and we’re pretty knowledgeable about getting a cab or an uber, but imagine leaving two seventy-year-old women stranded in a large city who possibly couldn’t figure out what to do! Unfortunately, I didn’t get the name of the driver, but I do have the Booking Reference number. So Great Pacific Tours should be able to see who the driver/guide was on that tour. Small-Group Full-Day Tour of San Francisco with Alcatraz Booking Reference BR-678846600 Lead Traveler: RITA ADAMS SLONE Number of Travelers: 2 (2 Adults) Travel Date: Saturday February 16, 2019 Location: San Francisco, United States Price: USD $258.00 As you can see, we paid $149 each for the tour. What we were offered in compensation were two “Hop-On/Hop-Off “ tickets priced at $55 each…hardly the comfort and tour that we were anticipating. Granted, we did get the first part of the tour---Alcatraz. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Mary Jo Pfleger CC: AAA, Viator, Extranomical Tours, Great Pacific Tours
