"DC Craft Cocktail Tour"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed February 20, 2019 NEW
First of all, my bad I guess for not noticing the fine print about the 2 1/2 hour tour only including the first cocktail. However, if you’re charging $94 per person that should include a drink in each bar! The tour is basically a circle around the Verizon center into 3 bars and did NOT go into any hip speak easys where cocktails are $20+ Our tour guide was a sweet young lady but after the first 5 minutes she didn’t say much about DC and prohibition or anything historically interesting about bars or cocktails in the area. The first bar, sort of a sports bar, we got a cocktail making demonstration and the one cocktail. Then to a crowded bar, with no reservation and had to wait 1/2 hour to order a drink. The last bar was in a hotel where we may have had a reserved section and they treated us to a glass of homemade bubbly because I complained about the value of the tour. This could have been an historically really interesting tour if planned out better and with a knowledgeable guide. So, don’t waste your money! Read reviews on bars in DC and make your own reservations. The owners of Urban Adventures should go on tours with companies that do it right to learn how to organize a good city tour. I recommend Paris or London City Walks. Urban Adventures got enough money out of the 6 of us to pay for the airfare over there!

"Tastes of Adams Morgan"

I was the only guest for my experience in Adams Morgan. Nima, my guide, has very well adapted the tour to my diet. We had a great time and he also gave me good directions for the rest of my trip. To mix food and history made the tour very interesting. Thank you for this moment !

"Custom tour, amazing guide, brilliant sights"

What an amazing adventure. I was visiting DC for work and the office kindly arranged a "best of DC" tour for us. Our guide, Chris, took us to a wide array of sights: along the National Mall with stops for pictures at the Jefferson Memorial, Washington, MKL Jr and Lincoln Monuments, up into Adams-Morgan, along to H-street in NE and then to the Capitol. Along the way we got all the historical information we could possibly want, some local anecdotes and tips for some tasty restaurant visits. We had such a great afternoon and got to see the best of DC in a climate controlled tour bus! I would definitely recommend DC Urban Adventures, specifically Chris, to get a good feel for the city and some helpful insights into its history.

"Customized bus tour of DC"

My office had an international group visiting the U.S.and we were looking for an activity that would provide a good overview of DC. I inquired to Urban Adventures if they could provide a customized tour: I wanted something that would allow the visitors to see the main sights on the DC Mall, with opportunities to take photos there, but I also wanted them to see more of DC to get into some of the historical neighborhoods. Urban Adventures worked with us to identify the perfect itinerary and tour guide. Super helpful to us was that they also organized the transportation and included that in the price - they picked us up from the hotel, took us to several of the monuments downtown, then we drove up to see the Adams Morgan and Atlas neighborhoods which were great counterpoints. Our guide was Chris and the visitors loved him - one remarked "He is so passionate about his work!" He was extremely knowledge about the area, is a DC local, and has a good sense of humor. He chatted with our fellows and got to know them a little bit, which I believe made the experience all the more enjoyable and personal for them. The bus was a great option for people to cover a lot of ground quickly, especially in winter weather where our folks were not wanting to be outside for long lengths of time. Finally, we really appreciate that they organized for our guests to have a snack and a hot drink during the tour, and worked with our budget to make it fit. All this was really appreciated and I highly recommend them. I would definitely work with them again.

"Great experience with Nima!"

I had a wonderful time on the Monuments by Night tour with our guide Nima! The tour was extremely informative and Nima is incredibly passionate about his work. We were able to see pretty much all the monuments on the National Mall and received an extensive overview. I would strongly recommend considering this tour- I went in Jan 2018 when there were less tourists because of the government shutdown which meant no crowds, and it was one of my favourite experiences!
