"Tired Hotel but met my needs"

I stayed here this week while attending a conference. It turned out to be a good choice with easy access to Mandalay Bay via "The Shoppes" walkway over to my meetings. My room, a pyramid queen, must have been redecorated at some point, parts of it looked a bit tired but overall it was very comfortable. They ought to revisit the heating and cooling system. I was mostly able to get it to an adequate level but it really should be updated. The bed and pillows were perfectly comfortable. Overall the room was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Negatives- It was a little too dark, the fan in the bathroom was extremely loud, the bathroom sink didn't drain well, I could smell a lot of cigarette smoke in the evenings and cottage cheese ceilings? really?. I express checked in but once I had keys I realized I had no idea where my room was located or how to get there and room service is far too limited. I would stay here again, good value for my dollar but it would not be my first choice. It's showing its age and MGM resorts ought to do something about that.

"Bad service, outdated building "

The hotel itself is a cool design and visually impressive when you enter the main area. The Egypt theme is fun and different for a hotel. That being said, the hotel seems old and dirty - wallpaper peeling off and every surface in the elevators are scuffed. I would have rated 3 stars, however, the lady who checked me in at the front desk was unfriendly and gave me attitude.

"Resort access to resort amenities"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5

This hotel is the worst...they charge you a $39 resort fee and the fitness center is only open to use until 6pm where all other hotels fitness centers are open until 8-10pm (when there for a convention you won't have access after you wrap up your working day) and the pool is "seasonal" so once again access to "resort amenities" is NOT an option due to their own restrictions. Room service is also severely restricted to a handful of menu options. The rooms don't have minibars or fridges. So where the heck are the amenities you are forced to pay for?? And when you complain...they could care less! No customer service, no accomodation, no care! Everyone I spoke to simply said "that's our policy and unfortunately there's nothing I can do." I won't stay at the Luxor again and I will not advise others to waste their time and money there. There are way too many other hotels that do care about customer service, customer experience and fair access to resort amenities.

We always stay at the Luxor when we come to Vegas. The rooms are very affordable and clean. The beds are comfortable for a good nights sleep. also quiet in the rooms. We did find that the food prices had really gone up. But the breakfast in the restaurant we went to was good.
