"WOW!!"
November, 2017
Wow! Literally all I can say! My son loves the zoo so I decided since I haven't took him to one in 3 years why not find somewhere in FL to take him. My wife and I traveled from CT and decided to check out this zoo. we weren't looking at the map because we wanted to let it all be a surprise. But let me tell you this zoo is huge. We noticed there was a little water park for children and I was actually in shock it was about 90 degrees and we didn't expect a water park to be here!! my son loved it he cooled down and played with other children. BTW the food here was delicious! Also we saw that you can feed the giraffes and rhino which was amazing!!!!!!!! also there's a little truck that can tour you around the zoo. Such a great experience for me and my family.

I love this place! I've been coming here since I was a kid and it still never disappoints me. Everyone is so friendly and even when it's crowded, it's still a lot of fun. There's so much to see. The shows are always nice to see if you've never seen them before. It's fun whether you're an adult or bringing kids with you. They have been doing some construction to update some of the exhibits, but there's still so much to do. You have to come here if you're in the area. It's worth it even if you just spend half of the day here. They do so much for the community and have been ranked #1 zoo in the country for years and you can definitely see why when you come!

I CANNOT believe there’s good reviews? Are these from people that have never been to a properly run zoo?? First there’s was barely anything to even view?! We went everywhere and were done in 20 mins. Second, the poor penguins had NO space and a tiny water area that was nearly EMPTY! I mean hell even in HAWAII they had ice and a tank for them to swim! The orangutangs seemed depressed and were covered in blankets. The giraffe had barely anything to eat. There was no lush bushes or grass the whole place was dirt and stone we saw literally 6 different animals the place is awful it’s no wonder u pay for one visit and get the rest of the year free?! It should be shut down and how can Tampa support this when tourist come here?? I promised my daughter who doesn’t like zoos because of bad treatments to animals that Tampa zoo would t be like this otherwise they would lose tourists how wrong I was.

There's a great diversity of animals and knowledgeable zoo keepers. There are paid for animal feedings ($5-$10) which are fun experiences (birds and giraffes) and more costly ticketed animal experiences ($25) where you get up close and personal with certain animals (rhinos, elephants, tortoises, etc). We did the tortoise experience where we got to go into the tortoise habitat, talk to keepers, and pet the tortoises. During the experiences they take pictures which are available for purchase.

A huge variety of animals to see! We were lucky enough to go on a day when the animals were out and about. It was great to see the animals very cared for and given beautiful living environments. There are certain times you can go to do feeding of giraffes etc. and it only costs an extra $5 per person. We went on a Friday and for the two of us it took 5 hours to go through but we like to look at everything. There were quite a few of the food locations closed well before closing time which was unfortunate but we managed to find a hot dog vendor, and a couple Donut locations open. We enjoyed the roller coaster, and touching the Stingrays too. Wear comfortable walking shoes!

Great zoo for families. I took my son who is 18, but has special needs. He loved it! Lots of good animals, good layout. I was hoping to get him on the safari, but he wouldn’t go. I highly recommend to families.
