"Nice Hotel - but missing some basics"
October, 2018
First of all - This hotel was sold out on every other website and direct, so a BIG thanks for Reserve Orlando. The good: friendly staff, cute themeing, good free breakfast, includes premium parking for the park. The bad: the pool closes in the middle of the day 12-4pm and no daily housekeeping service with minimum stays. We would stay again when we visit Legoland because the price was a good value.

Tip: good breakfast, pool closes midday, free premium parking for legoland.

Tip: The conveniences of a hotel are lacking a bit at the beach retreat, but it was nothing that affected our trip in a negative way.

"We enjoyed the stay"

We stayed a few nights here when visiting legoland. The buildings are bungalow each split into 2 units. Each with a bedroom. a small kids bunk bed area, and a bathroom. Kind of small, not much room in main area except for bed and a chair. There is a little sitting area out front. The place was immaculate. Each group of units has a central play area and it is surrounded by water, The main bedroom looks out onto the courtyard and the curtain is just short enough to leave a gap so you never feel like you have full privacy. My childs room looked onto a loading dock (not that he noticed). We found most of the staff friendly. There is 1 restaurant with a small bar area, and a kids lego play area in it. Service in the restaurant was variable. Some times we felt like we were bothering the servers, other times service was great, The food was very good for a theme park. There is a dance party at night for about an hour and a lighthouse lighting ceremony which is a quick thing that the kids liked. because of weather we did not use the pool. there were smores and a fire pit. The park is across from LegoLand. Maybe half a mile or so (15 min walk). However, when we asked how to walk there staff members did not recommend we walk across the main road. The shuttle has a 3 hour gap without service in the middle of the day, and we didn't have a car so we walked. Its not bad, there is a crosswalk but the path into the park is not marked and you have to do some walking on the grass, This is different that the legoland hotel which has its own security path right into legoland. It was much quieter than when we saw of the main hotel, and the shuttle was easy to use .The play area outdoor is nice and no need for an elevator. We had a great time at LegoLand. Im just not sure which of the 2 properties we will try next time.

Check in was quick and done at the window while we sat in the car . We were Shark Suit Guy Cove which is at the back of the resort but only a 2 min walk from the front. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy the shower was a good pressure and hot . Pool area was nice. The breakfast buffet was great in the morning but get there early at 7:30 or 8:00 as everyone seems to time it to eat and go to the park right after for 10 and the line was out the door. It's a quick 1 min drive across the street so walk if you can or take the shuttle but driving over we got caught in a 40 min wait cause the Hotel Guest lane was open to everyone so there was no Express parking as we were told there was . If you need to decide between the hotel next to the park or the beach resort save the money and stay at the beach resort and just go to the hotel lobby after the park closes and participate in the activities there and go back to the beach one were it is a 100 times quieter

"Amazing family friendly resort"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

This was the best family vacation we have taken. Boys enjoyed having their own room, but they are little so I appreciated that we could hear them at night. Pool with legos in was a huge hit, the entertainment provided in the evenings was amazing. Kids had fun playing 4 square, Lego hide and seek, and the LOVED the sand castle building thing in the restaurant area. Don't miss smores, as that was a super fun treat in the evening (forgot my kids hadn't had smores in forever!) You get a really great amount for a family for the money. The 4 of us didn't finish it all. All rooms open to a common area with a kids playground- this was also a huge hit for our boys. So family friendly. We could watch them from the patio as they played and made friends with everyone else staying at the hotel. Everyone was super friendly, rooms were nice, drive through check in was pretty unique and awesome. We loved LegoLand, and loved this resort. We will be back!

"The most incredible family week!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed March 20, 2019 NEW
This was the most incredible family week we’ve had since having three kids. I was really nervous about the space we would have, with three small children basically sharing a room with us, and to my surprise, it was really special and everyone slept great! There was plenty of room for the pack and play to be next to the bunkbeds, and we put my three-year-old on the bottom bunk bed with her head at the ladder end, so she wouldn’t roll out. We ate breakfast and most dinners at the beach retreat restaurant Sandy’s Castle. In planning, we had high hopes to eat at local restaurants for dinner, but in reality, we just enjoyed the pool so much in the afternoons, and the convenience of getting a pizza and some broccoli to- go from the beach bar window and eating on our bungalow patio, while the kids were free to eat and play on our cove’s playground or just run and chase each other on the lawn. Or the kids really enjoyed eating dinner in the restaurant, and building Legos in the lighthouse while we waited for food, and our youngest was enthralled by the Lego characters that would visit, especially the shark one. The food was actually quite good, we really enjoyed the pizza, the steak and fried shrimp combo felt like a good value, the grilled chicken was good, the kids meals were expensive, about $10 each, but were large portions. There were no promotions or discounts going on while we stayed there. We requested our bungalow to be in Seagulls Cove, for its proximity to the lighthouse for meals, nearby parking, the pool and large playground. It was awesome. I highly recommend that area. Legoland theme park was incredible. For a first visit to a large theme park with our 3 kids, we didn’t want to feel rushed or stressed about not seeing everything, so we bought the vacation package and got the second day at the park free, and then for $20 each we got a 3rd day. We went every other day when we were there. The lines were never more than 20 minutes for any ride, and the kids had an absolute blast. We loved everything about the park. We put the girls in our double stroller we brought with us, and walked around the old Cypress Gardens during nap time, and they both conked out within 10 minutes. That Banyan tree is very impressive, I walked by it no less than 20 times. Ha ha. The gardens are exquisite. One evening, as we were leaving the park after the 4Dmovie, which the kids loved, we decided to just walk over to Legoland hotel for dinner. The kids thought it was so neat, with the big pirate ship and Legos to build everywhere, and we ate their buffet for dinner. It was OK, but the food at the beach retreat was much better. All in all, I can’t say enough great things about Legoland beach retreat. It wasn’t a five-star resort like a romantic beach getaway, but for a family, they thought of everything. My kids had an absolute blast playing in the pool with the floating bricks, digging in the sand, on the playground, and they loved our room so much. We did too. It was a really great family week, and I kind of loved all of us being together. Now that we are back home, I think I’m gonna let all three kids share a room one night this weekend, and I might even join them! Ha ha! Oh, and a nice tip, after you park at Legoland theme park, which parking is included with your stay, when you first walk up to the gate, you were walking up to the security line (not ticket line), you can go over into the lane for hotel guests only on the far left. There is essentially zero wait. One of the days we went to Legoland theme park, there was a line all the way back to the parking lot, it would’ve probably taken 45 minutes or an hour to get through, and we walked down the hotel guest lane and right into the park within five minutes. Great perk! The beach retreat counts as hotel guests. Enjoy!

"Far Exceeded our Expectations"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed March 20, 2019 NEW
After reading some of the previous reviews, I wasn’t sure what to expect. We purchased the Groupon, and the pre-arrival communication was non-existent. I called LEGOLAND to confirm, but they were unable to do so - something about not having Groupon reservations in their system. Needless to say, I was quite worried pulling in at 11pm to check in, but all was well. They had our room ready and waiting! We’ve done two weeks at Disney in the past two years, which were amazing, so i wasn’t expecting the same level of service and enjoyment. It seems, however, that they have increased the service at the resort! Everything was great regarding the service! We had daily housekeeping despite previous comments that it happens once every third night. The beds were comfortable. The entire place was incredibly clean. Fresh towels were delivered daily. Dinner service was slow, but they offer the LEGO play area and the dance party to occupy the kids. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and my husband and I remarked many times during the week that the wait staff worked extremely hard! We appreciated the nice variety of cold, draft beer. My kids loved the huge variety at breakfast, and dinner was fine The food Isn’t as good as at WDW, but there’s plenty of variety. You don’t go to a theme park expecting haute cuisine, right? I was disappointed in the lack of fresh produce (only canned fruit save watermelon). We loved sitting on our porch, and the resort was very quiet. My kids spent hours over the course of the week on our cove playground! The pool was warm! Kids loved building LEGO structures in the water, and the pool was open 11am-9pm. When the park was open, the resort pool was deserted despite it being spring break. At one point, there were more lifeguards than children in the pool. We loved doing s’mores but wished that they had more sticks. We bought the pack the first night but went to Publix for extra supplies for subsequent nights. We would’ve liked more characters at the resort. We stayed 7 nights and only met Shark Guy. We loved that resort guests can swim at Hotel pool and take the Master Builder Class (though it was a bit of a disappointment - he doesn’t teach anything; he just walks the kids through a small pre-assembled set). My crew loved playing in the pirate ship in the lobby, and we appreciated being able to eat lunch by the pool while we swam! We will definitely return! I only wish that the curtain between the kids’ cove and the main room in our bungalow was a door. We would’ve liked to have stayed up later than our children, but the lack of privacy prohibits that. Keep up the awesome work, LEGOLAND Beach Retreat!
