Being KD's first winter season , it was really nice and festive. Their selection of retail merchandise was very nice , beautifully designed to the store's theme. The selection of food was a great touch to the areas of the park. Did not get to see and do everything in one night. A season pass is a definite for next year to see everything throughout the dates opened. The list of entertainment and activities was good , again didn't see all of it in the short amount of time .. Season passes have been purchased so we can enjoy more in 2019...

Winterfest was nice, colorful. All light displays looked awesome, however most rides were closed . My son got bored. Some rides should've stayed opened to the public. I Saw a lot of kids kicked out of a roller coaster and all of them were disappointed. I still recommend people to visit King's Dominion in December

Visited with my son who's a keen coaster enthusiast. We had planned a couple of days just in case the weather didn't cooperate and got a nice hot sunny day first up and then a soaking wet day on the second day. We stayed nearby and got a shuttle to and from the park, which was easy but the service was extremely irregular. Getting entry into the park was easy enough, lockers were accessible and about standard price for theme parks. We mistakenly got a fast pass for the rides and were a bit disappointed as they really weren't needed. At other parks they've always been very good with advising about whether you needed one or not (Hersheypark even refunded our online purchased cases at the Park) but here they said get the passes. It wasn't busy enough to warrant them so the advice was ordinary. As we travel so far we try and maximise our ride time so we often check out the passes. The park was well presented, clean and tidy and seemed well cared for. There were plenty of trashcans, seats and shade and lots of food places with a variety of offerings with standard pricing and quality for a theme park. It was easy to get around. The rides themselves - as the park wasn't hugely busy it was hard to get a sense of how well the rides were operated, how the queues were managed and rider safety handled. There were a couple of issues around consistency of enforcement of the rules. For example on one of rides on the Intimidator 305 the girl in front of us was asked to put her phone away, didn't and filmed the whole ride which sort of affected our enjoyment because we were worried about wearing a phone in the face. Another time someone was made to go back to the lockers to secure their phone. We seemed to have missed the big carry-on crack down and I had shorts with pockets and these were fine for putting our phones in on rides. It seemed like not long after we were there the park moved to a complete ban for riding with anything, even in pockets or secured. Rides: Intimidator 305 was the big one, great ride, the first half is killer and really flies around, the second half is good although not as great. Grizzly - bumpy, old, uncomfortable, few redeeming features Back Lot Stunt Coaster - I really liked this one, very self-contained and does exactly what it was designed to do, good layout and nice track Flight of Fear - loved the cheesy theming and probably my favourite dark coaster, great acceleration and fun ride Twisted Timbers - good ride, however, we'd just been to Cedar Point and done Steel Vengeance so it unfortunately lost in comparison. I enjoyed it a lot more than my son did, it's a little shorter than I was expecting but packs a fair bit in, definitely worth doing They were the main ones I remember, we did a few others and overall it was a solid park with some really good rides. Overall good memories, not sure I would get much out of a repeat visit especially as the Volcano was down and we didn't get to ride.

Drove up to KD for the day from NC since the park did't open until 10 AM. I was a little disappointed that the gates opened so late, particularly in the summer because you miss out on the cool hours of the morning to do the rides. Other than that, we thought the park was great. Everything was well laid out. The rides were spread out really well so that everyone wasn't crowded in one area of the park and the stalls and games in between were not overly crowded with people trying to get past to the next ride. Snoopy land was great for the little ones. This is one of the only places that we have been, besides Tweetsie that had enough rides for really young kids to make the trip worth making. The fast food places are way overpriced and you are better off eating at their other restaurants. The food wasn't fantastic, but better than typical fair food or fast food fare. You will pay more for snacks and drinks if you buy them in the shops, which we did for convenience for the grown ups, but they didn't seem to bat an eye at the fruit snacks, fruit, and granola bars we brought for the kids in the diaper bag, or at the kids thermos drink containers. We bought the refillable drink cups for the adults, mainly because we wanted to have ice in our drinks and you can't bring a cooler. Even after the candy shop visit, we still spent a lot less than we have at other amusement parks on food and drinks. The water park was a godsend in the late afternoon during the heat of the day. The kids had such a blast running through all of the water features and doing the lazy river that we never even made it to any of the water slides. It was also nice that we were able to leave the park and take a nap and come back for the evening show - which the kids loved. There were a lot of people dancing and singing along. Overall, it was a great trip and because the place is not over-hyped, everything was what we expected. We already have plans to come back. I highly recommend KD for families with smaller children and families on a budget. If you have to have the newest and latest thing, you probably want to steer clear and visit one of the more trendy parks.

"Kings Dominion attraction and excitement"

I love King's Dominion! It was always my favorite amusement parks to go to. It seems like everytime I come, there a new attraction. Its great that they are replacing older rides that have a lot of mechanical problems with newer ones. They do need to get rid of the Flight of Fear. I really do love that ride but it had met its end. Its always breaking down and 4 of my friends who came with me most recently got stuck on the track. Out with the old. Its crazy that as many times as very been here, my last visit was the first time I've been in the waterpark. I have to admit, I was underwhelmed. I don't know it if was a bad day but it was still summer and school was still out but they only had one of the wave pools open and half of the water rides weren't open. We only rode the lazy river and the Tornado. We were on the Wave pool for a few but we didn't stay in long because it was so crowded. I believe it was the small one of the two pools. I wish the parking and food wasn't so expensive. Good thing is parking is cheaper online but not by much. Also, dont buy your admission tickets online or at the park. Contact your local department of parks and Recreation for discounted tickets. They usually have discounted tickets for amusement parks in the area every season.

Park is very clean. I would give it 5 stars, but the food is very pricey for the quality. I tried emailing KD about the food, but received no response. The park is great fun though. My daughter (12) loves it. We enjoyed so much we bought season passes for 2019!

We have gone to this amusement park multiple times, over several years. It has become apparent that the Volcano will never be open, but was quietly demoted to a park sculpture a long time ago (Even before opening day this year, 2019, there is an alert on the web site saying it is shut down already!). Also, opening day is more likely to simply be a park walk with expensive food as many rollercoasters will be closed. My advice is to avoid the park until the corporation believes there is a cost/benefit ratio to keep rides open- starting in late May.
