Stayed here for five nights and had never been to this island before so really had no idea on the best city to stay. There were quite a few couples and families staying here and it was very relaxing. I didn't take any photos of the rooms but the photos others posted are what our room looked like. I did post a few of the outside and pool which were great. Cons first: -I thought when my travel agent booked it that we had a mini kitchen but we only had a tiny fridge that hardly worked and a coffee maker that we never used -Expensive - just as everything in Hawaii is but the room was expensive compared to places I've stayed with full kitchens on other islands, food and drinks also very expensive (pool restaurant had the best food and the pizza place below Portofino. I've been to Duke's before but this one we tried twice and it wasn't very good and over crowded everyday, don't bother) -The cove pretty much blocks off anything aside from the resort beach, can't see the sunset or the golf course or any other beaches - you can probably see a cruise ship pull in and out though if that's your thing -Aside from the restaurants walking distance there isn't much else around, ABC store, couple shops etc. if you are looking to stay somewhere more lively with more hotels and shops around, this isn't it Pros: -It really is a beautiful resort and our room was clean and taken care of everyday -The staff was awesome from the time we checked in and throughout our stay -The beach is perfect for swimming and don't have to worry about any big waves, plenty of rental places around for paddleboards, kayaks, snorkels etc. -Close to the airport, didn't see many planes but saw many helicopters -Huge pool, never had to fight for a spot -Short drive to major stores Safeway, Costco etc., centrally located to everything else both directions All in all I would stay here again if I needed to be close to the airport a night, but next time would likely stay on the Poipu side as there seemed to be more options over there. I was bummed we didn't get to see any sunsets but I knew that going in we'd have to drive to see them. Fun trip!

We stayed for 3 nights. The resort was beautiful and the suite was fabulous! We were very impressed with the swan made of towels and flower petals that were on our bed. The resort has multiple pool and is on the beach. It is close to shopping and restaurants. We visited the island’s “Grand Canyon” while on the island.

We stayed here between March 4th and March 10th for the second part of our honeymoon in Hawaii. After spending 4 nights in Honolulu, we felt spoiled by the staff at the Marriott Waikiki Beach. Before leaving, I contacted both that property and this one to let them know that we were traveling on our honeymoon and that any consideration for that would be appreciated (I should also note that we are Platinum Elite). Upon arriving to the hotel at 2:00pm, we were told that our room was not ready yet and that we were slated for an upgrade from garden view to "partial ocean/partial pool" view room. Before the trip, an email said that we could potentially receive an upgrade to a Premium Ocean View Room. Figuring this was our honeymoon, I thought that was what we would end up with and even asked if that upgrade was available. The woman checking us in laughed at how good the upgrade was considering we booked a garden view room and told us the cost would be $350 additional per night for the premium ocean view room. Keep in mind that we just spent 4 nights at a Marriott property where we booked the lowest room and were upgraded to the biggest suite on property just for being Platinum and letting them know it was our honeymoon. Needless to say, this was a disappointing start to the stay in Kauai. We gave our number and received a call about an hour later that our room was ready. It was on the 8th floor overlooking the pool and the harbor - decent, but one of the biggest complaints is that the bed in the room faces away from the ocean/water so in order to enjoy any view, you have to physically be on the balcony. The room was fine - standard Marriott fare with plenty of space and a comfortable bed. The water pressure in the shower was abysmal, but we managed. Perhaps the most disappointing part of the trip was the construction that was happening at the pool in one of the jacuzzi's (they have 4 around the pool, which when all functional has to be a big perk). The noise from the construction made the pool impossible to enjoy and it even lingered to the balcony so sitting there, it sounded like I was in downtown Manhattan, instead of in paradise. I brought this to the attention of management, as this was not explained to us at ANY point - not in emails prior to arrival, nor at check in. It was a complete surprise to us and one that I would have likely tried to find similar accommodations to avoid. Catherine, the manager, apologized and asked how she could make it better. Before settling on a $150 resort credit and 10,000 loyalty points - she offered passes to another property and a cabana rental. At that point, I was again annoyed by the way platinum status was being treated given the significance of the trip. She was one of the friendliest people I dealt with, but it was still not what we were used to when traveling with Marriott. Parking is a challenge if you do not valet ($10 more per night) as the space is limited and public can use it to access the beach. The restaurants were good and the buffet breakfast perk was a nice addition (no way would we have ever spent $31.95/person/day). Concierge was super helpful as well booking excursions and our luau. The recent reviews seem to be on point for this hotel - they could use some improvement and I will certainly think twice about staying here again when we return to Kauai. I know there are other Marriott properties on the island and have to hope they are all not this average.

My finance (at the time), now husband, stayed 10-blissful days at this property. We were upgraded to a suite in the Ocean wing on the 2nd floor and the view was absolutely amazing. The staff was amazing! Everyone was so nice and welcoming, which is very important for me when choosing a place to stay. They were all so accommodating and always had a smile on their face. Just walking around the property, you were always greeted with a warm aloha and asked if you needed anything. The staff again were so very nice and accommodating to all of our needs. I would definitely recommend this property. Rooms, staff, accessibility to shops and eateries and great views (everything that matters when you are planning a trip), this property has it!” The beds are soooo comfortable and the views are fantastic, we enjoyed sitting on our lanai in the morning with a cup of coffee taking in all of the beautiful scenery. Location, location, location! This property is in a perfect location; right on the beach, close to tons of shops and restaurants all within walking distance. It's nice to have a car, but you do not necessarily need one. I would personally like to say thank you to the entire staff (including) Chip Bahouth (GM) & John Swanson and the entire front desk staff!!! The bottle of champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries was a nice surprise. Thank you
