"A nice stay"

This hotel was lovely. We really enjoyed all the birds and breakfast was great too. The beach is a little disappointing with the rocky spots (this is everywhere in Maui) we saw some people swim in the ocean, but my kids felt the Rocks we’re too inconvenient. Great location, lots nearby, all in all a nice stay. I only give it 4 stars because of the price, very expensive for amenities offered.

Everything was very clean and service excellent but the food on-site is extremely over priced... like $32/per person, just for breakfast expensive. Valet is $35/day. And if you want a drink, walk to the bar to get it. A mai tai costing $10 at the bar will cost you $18 for the server to walk 20 feet to the kids pool, or anywhere else. This is still tacked on per drink and food items, even if you are renting a cabana which costs $80-$225/day.

"Better places to stay along Kaanapali"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed March 19, 2019 NEW
For the price of the room there are way better hotels to stay on Kaanapali. The room was average, when we arrived there was a used food try outside our door that had fruit flies all around it - it took 3 calls to get them to pick it up. The beach in front of the Hyatt is ok, way better even with a 3-5 minute walk north. The pools were OK, had to walk from the "main pool" quite a distance to get to the hot tub. There 2 pools, one 4 ft pool and then a kiddie pool.

"Disappointed"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

We had stayed on this side of Maui previously but had stayed at the Andaz a year ago. There was some disappointment in noise of the hall, below the balcony, front desk staff and lack of communication, but whales and turtles were good. Beach, lacking, pools noisy but ok.

"Perfect"

I don't know where to start on this review. There are a lot of negative reviews online that, in my mind, are totally false. From my objective, The Hyatt Resort Maui is perfect. The Resort Itself: The grounds themselves are amazing and meticulously kept. The lobby/atrium area in the main building is timeless and the open air, views, palm trees make you feel exactly how you should in Hawaii. The Swan Court breakfast and dinner area is really unbelievable and we couldn't have asked for a better location to start our day. The flamingo's, swans, parrots, penguins and fish felt like we were in a tropical paradise (which we were). Rooms: I think if you have any qualms about the rooms you should book at the least an ocean view room or even better an ocean front room. We had an ocean view room and it was really comfortable, clean and beautiful. Our room, like the rest of the resort, was meticulously clean and bright. The lanai's were enough size for the 3 of us to sit out there, have a drink and just enjoy the view. Pools: We mostly stuck to the Hyatt Residence pool which was perfect for us. Even though it was the beginning of spring break and there was a lot of people the pool area seemed to disburse everyone well. We never had a problem find chairs and it felt like we had the pool to ourselves most of the time even where there was other people in there. Staff: The house keeping, front staff, service staff and management treated us with smiles and professionalism every day. Overall: We drove and looked at all the other areas in Maui. First of all, Kaanapali itself is the best place to stay and the location of where the Hyatt is is the best place to stay in Kaanapali. We walked through other resorts while in Kaanapali and the Hyatt is by far the best. We enjoyed Maui and the Hyatt so much we have now made it an annual destination. We could not imagine staying anywhere else in Maui and we thank the Hyatt Maui Resort and Spa so much for giving to us what we expect out of the Hyatt chain.
