We just recently had our company’s annual function at the Hotel del...the positives: the hotel is beautiful, the people are accommodating and very pleasant! The downside to the hotel is in the food/drink service!!! $29 for a mediocre hamburger is outrageous...not to mention that if you want a salad you will pay $20 ...add chicken and it’s another $15.50 Most of our meals were banquet style through our company so can’t imagine what we paid for that, but seriously when we weren’t eating with our co-workers, we paid a lot! Will definitely look elsewhere when back in the San Diego area!!!

"One of my Best Stays Ever, Anywhere!"

I've been looking forward to coming here for years, and thanks to my job, we finally made it. We stretched a two day meeting into four days for some much needed R&R with my wife. So glad that we stayed here. The rooms are fantastic, although we never saw the ghost (darn it!). Great hospitality from all of the staff. The meals here were top notch. Not a flaw in anything. We've got one more night to spend here and then it's back to Oregon. Thanks Hotel Del for a memorable stay!

"A waste of $20"

Beware there are no signs to tell you there is no self parking. So we had to valet park and they did not let us know there was a $20 dollar fee. All my husband wanted to do was go to the gift shop. We came out 20 minutes later and gave the valet our ticket. We were told that would be $20. When he asked to talk to a manager they told him that was the price. So just know if you want to see the hotel or go to a restaurant it will cost you at least $20.00 to park. We will never go back!

"Lovely old hotel"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

We visited the Del over President's Day weekend with our three kids (3, 7, 9), check-in was smooth, the hotel is very old, a historic building, that they seem to be really trying to keep updated and looking nice. Our kids loved the old fashioned elevator and thought the hotel was "like a castle." We had no issues with our room (just a standard two-bed courtyard view in the Victorian building - they brought in an adorable toddler bed for our three year old - this was enough space for us as we didn't spend a ton of time in our room). The pool and hot tub were nice, beach was lovely. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that the food and drinks are so, so expensive. I mean - even if you can afford it...you just feel ripped off! It's not a good feeling. In anticipation of this, we filled the fridge with stuff from Vons - a few blocks away, and there are tons of awesome restaurants all around the hotel, it doesn't make sense to eat or drink there!
