"Meh...has gone downhill over the years."

Arrived yesterday, we booked adjoining rooms. Lady at front desk when booking was extremely helpful in getting us a connecting room. We stayed in the “standard hotel” portion of the property. It receives 1 Star. Smells old, looks old, curtains ripped, curtain sheers also ripped and weren’t sewn with white thread, but with pink thread that you can see. Wallpaper separating on walls, paint chipping and overall needs a complete remodel. In the morning we woke at 10am to someone hammering and banging. So we were then informed that there was construction above us. The front desk was graceful on offering us a room change which I did not originally ask for. She was able to move some things around to accommodate our joint room situation and provide us with a different building. We packed and moved rooms. Got to the newly remodeled portion of the hotel and the rooms are much nicer. No old smell, tile floors, clean. Turned on the air conditioner and the room started heating up. Turned on the tv and the screen was pixelated and blurry. The digital channels were not connected. Called Maintence. Took an hour for them to come. They got the air conditioning working but couldn’t get the heat to work if we needed it. They did get the tv signal hooked up for digital tv and said you have to scroll all the way to channel 40 to hit the digital channels. It doesn’t say to do that anywhere in the room. I originally scrolled through all channels and they were receiving the signal. This is now 2pm same day that we have been dealing with all this and stuck in our room waiting for things to get fixed. Since they weren’t able to fully fix the heating system the mainatnce guy said he was talking To hotel manager, Lexi and trying to find a remedy tot he situation. Didn’t really want to move rooms..again! Lexi called finally and said that she had heard about the issue and that she was able to provide electric heaters into our room if needed. I said ok...I said, is that all? We had been dealing with all this since 10am and it was now 3pm when I talked to her. I asked her what she thought she could do to help our situation. She said she would put heaters in the room. She said she couldn’t move our room. I got a little upset because she wasn’t any more accommodating in us wasting our whole day. No comp of food offered, no resort comp..nothing. After I expressed my disappointment in how our stay has transpired, she then said...oh well I may be able to comp your room from last night. I wasn’t really looking for a whole night comp but at least a food credit or resort credit, but that was very nice of her. So we stayed in our room and are getting a space heater. We then went to the restaurant in the hotel and asked about an item on the menu, the halibut tacos, the waiter said oh that’s a really old preparation of the dish we don’t even do it that way anymore, which was fine because it was an odd preparation of halibut tacos anyway. My point is in the details that their menu wasn’t even a newly printed menu to update the change in offerings. The only reason I even gave two stars is because we were accommodated and the staff was very nice. The Maintence guys were awesome. Super personable, knowledgeable and really trying to help us. With that said, I would go somewhere else. This used to be a great hotel to stay at near sea world in San Diego. On the beach, lots to do and it used to be really nice. It was our “go-to” hotel when we would come to San Diego. We will need to find a new “go-to” hotel for us in the future.

I would probably give this place a 3 star if the staff was a little more accommodating. Clean room and right off the freeway in the mission valley area next to 2 malls. Unfortunately I personally would not recommend this hotel because if they are not being hospitable to their guests especially on a Valentine’s night stay to give guests another hour for a late check out; I find it distasteful!

This was far from the Hilton experience that I have had in the past. The first night our room was without heat so maintenance had to come up. The quality of the room was sub par for a Hilton to begin with. When the maintenance man took the cover off the wall it looked like it was never cleaned. Chunks of hair shot out all over the room. They had to put an air filter on because I couldn't breather afterwards because of allergies to dust. The shower flooded the bathroom and maintenance had to come back to fix the shower door the next day. The sink mirror/light had the electric cord frayed with wires sticking out. I informed the desk the next day so the could have someone come back, again to fix the light/mirror. The breakfast buffet ran out of clean glasses, dishes and took a long time to get service just for coffee. I overheard one staffer commenting to another how short staffed they were. I have stayed at Hilton's many times before but was very disappointed with this last visit am I'm not sure if I'll ever stay at any Hilton affiliated resorts again. I would be willing to discuss my issues further if someone would like to reach out.

The hotel is already beautiful and the service was even better. Thank you for making our stay so welcoming! I called in at 2 am and got a room by 2:30 am. The staff was quick to accommodate due to my poor experience at another location and I want to book with this hotel again in the future. The location itself was perfect and the comfort we had during our stay was amazing. And the value price we received for a last minute booking was seriously so good!!!

Staff intelligence is lacking , they always seem occupied and don’t care about your stay. Always on the phone dealing with other problems in the hotel but they fail to realize they are the ones causing most of the problems
