We were picked up at a hotel a couple blocks from ours by a cheerful tour guide and driver. Our transportation was a high roof van and we were part of a group of 10. The day was overcast with off and on rain. The island tour was remarkable because of our guide, Bryce, who MADE the tour by his knowledge of the islands and the way he presented the information. Very informative having lived there for several years and being involved in several aspects of the tourism industry. He managed to get us to the islands highlights in-between rain showers. We were given great tips regarding each place we visited BEFORE we got there so we could use our time more effectively. For instance, we knew where the macadamia nuts were available free if you cracked your own. Which ‘food truck’ had the best shrimp platter, and was able to call in an order and save us from waiting in long lines. The tour included a demonstration on cutting pineapples and samples. Of course the Macadamia nut presentation included samples too. Looking at ‘Chinaman’s Hat’ from the beach and visiting the site where Jurassic Park was filmed were some of the highlights. Getting to the ‘North Shore’ right after a big storm that had 60’ waves and having time for photos was a memorable experience. Stops at sites provided adequate time for taking in the details of the place and personal photos.

If you are debating whether to see Pearl Harbour or the Cultural Centre or the Dole Plantation or the Macadamia Farm – the Circle Island Tour is the answer. A full day on a comfortable, air-conditioned bus with a knowledgeable tour guide provided us with an excellent view of all the attractions including several additional stops for photos. This was time well spent and a saving on seeing the individual attractions. While there is not a great deal of time spent at each location, you could always pick the one to revisit.

The tour is very informative and takes you to various sightseeing points around Oahu. We were not very lucky with the weather and had to forgo canoeing down the river and swimming in the waterfall. Paolo did a great job finding substitute activities for our group along the way. He also shared his own fascinating family story and his singing talent with us - he’s really good! Thank you, Paolo, grazie millle!

"Our Amazing Day Tour around the Island"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed January 15, 2019
We started off at 8.30 in morning at the pickup place on Seaside Avenue but had to change buses and drivers at the next stop as someone had complained we were late. No big deal to us though. Our new tour driver was a lot nicer than the first one and he was called Acee and was brilliant and informative all day. He told us he named his son Decee (true story!) It was a beautiful day for the tour and not too hot. These are the places we stopped at on our tour. Diamond Head, Kahala Resort, Hanauma Bay, Blow Hole, Makapuu Beach, Mac Nut Farm, Kualoa Ranch, Chinaman's Hat, Laie Town Shrimp Trucks, Sunset Beach. Banzai Pipeline, Waimea Beach. Chuns' Reef, Halewai Town and Dole Plantation. All the places we stopped at, we took photos and I can't remember which one was which as there were so many. We had lunch at Turtle Bay and decided to do the swim with Turtles as we had purchased on loan goggles and flippers on the way. We had no idea where the turtles were as there was no-one to tell us, so we just wandered down to the beach and looked to see where people were swimming. As I am a retired person, I found it very difficult to get to the water, as there were a lot of big sharp rocks to clamber over before you got to the sea where people were in pools. My daughter helped me and we finally got to the waters edge where there was a shallower pool going towards a bigger pool. But I was scared as there were more dangerous looking rocks beneath us and I thought at my age, if I couldn't keep afloat I would sink down to them and scrape my knees or legs on them so I opted out while my daughter swam around and saw fish but there were no turtles. Someone in the water told us then that they were more out to sea. So that was a big disappointment to us as we were looking forward to it. The best part was Macadamia Nuts at Kaneohe and the Dole Pineapple Plantation at Wahiawa. At the Macadamia Nuts farm we had free samples of different flavoured nuts so we bought a bag and ate them all on the way bag as they were so yummy! At the Dole Pineapple Plantation there were eating places inside and out, gorgeous pineapple ice cream sundaes and lots of things to buy at the store. A little train took you right around the whole plantation or there was also a smaller tour to do instead. We arrived back directly to our own hotel at 6pm which we did not expect. We thought we would have been dropped off where we started from. What a great tour operator.
