My only complaint is having to wait for people who were late to their pick up points.
However, once we arrived there (grandma, grandpa and granddaughter) we had a great time. Our bus tour guide was hilarious and the trip there and back flew by thanks to our guide's consummate professionalism.
We especially enjoyed the pig being pulled out of the ground. Me being Mexican-American and my wife Colombian-American, it brought back many wonderful memories when we feasted on lechon at our family gatherings.

"Don't go!"
April, 2018
The place has a tired look and feel to it. My lasting impression is that they charge above average fees for mediocre food, paper plates, the wrong serving utensils used to
serve some of the food, chessy Vegas like show, an announcer who mumbled his way through his announcements, poorly made drinks, and the worst of it all was the disgusting restrooms. Unclean, smelly and in poor condition. The eating area filled with sand was also a turnoff. The luau on Kauai is much better and the one at the Polynesian Cultural Center looks much better.

We really enjoyed the luau and festivities from the time we got there to the time we left. The dancers and the buffet were great. Our tour guide "Greg" made the bus ride go by quickly with his wit and knowledge.

The Germaine Luau was absolutely fantastic and the best of two luaus that we attended while in Hawaii. We paid a little extra for seats closer to stage, and the one on one service and spacious seating was well worth it. Everything from the greeting as we arrived to the friendly staff was so impressive. The beautiful ocean waves were within just a few feet of your arrival area, make a stunning backdrop for photographs. We absolutely loved this luau and the dancers were amazing and talented. Our 32 year old son was chosen to dance with a female hula dancer, and it was just one of the best times we will always remember. If we ever get to return to Hawaii, we will go back to this luau for sure.

"Aloha Germaine!"
January, 2015
The setting is beautiful for Germaines's Luau on the shore of West Oahu . The show is right on the oceans edge in Kapolei. The sunset was amazing and during the festivities you could hear the sounds of the ocean. They have the most kind and helpful service and everyone makes you feel like you are there for them! The stories told in dance were mesmerizing, we even attempted the hula with them. The smell of the underground oven, roasting the pig, lets you know that you are in for an amazing feast. We dressed up for the occasion and the Luau was wonderful.

"Germaine’s gives a whole new meaning to pu pu platter!"

The whole experience was off. The bus picked us up 45 minutes late. It took us 1 1/2 hours to get to the venue which was in an industrial park. Once we arrived, we were given several confusing directions. We were hurried to take solo photos (no dancers), then ushered off to get drinks. With drink in hand, the hunt was on to find a seat at one of the many picnic tables which were decorated with printed table cloths and wedges of sliced pineapple for snacking. I was shocked to see that we would be sitting outside especially with the impending rain which started while we were waiting for other buses to arrive. Staff quickly passed out rain ponchos, but we were still wet and cold due to random showers and wind gusts. The pig ceremony was lackluster and we saw no tree climbers. When it was time for dinner, we were handed paper trays and instructed to line up on both sides of buffet table. I had the pineapple coleslaw, macaroni and potato salad (yes, it was mixed together), rice, chicken and 2 pieces of island fish. The food was good, until it wasn’t. Within minutes of finishing my meal, I felt queasy. Luckily the ride back to Waikiki was much faster. That night, I was up sick every two hours. Fast forward 4 days later and I’m still experiencing Germaine’s Luau which gravely affected the rest of my vacation in Hawaii. As for the performers, they were ok. We saw far better hula and fire dancers at the Magic of Polynesia show. Sickness aside, based on the bus transportation, location, venue and show, I would not return to or recommend this particular Luau.

"Terrible establishment"

Lets start the food is terrible the pork was not authentic and all of the other food is cheap. Second of all the location wasn’t good at all it is right behind a industrial area so that really ruined the experience. Let’s jump back to the pork you are told that it’s authentic and the pig is cooked under ground but how is that so when the pig from under grown is tossed immediately after it is dug out of under ground but what really sticks out is the pork is immediately ready after the removal of the pig it lack flavor which authentic koala pork doesn’t. Finally the tickets are overpriced I can go to a way better luau closer for way cheaper luau tickets at other locations that by the way aren’t behind an industrial center for under a hundred bucks with better food and all drinks included when these tickets are overpriced and not everything included.

"AWESOME Luau Feast & Show: 5-STAR! Loved It!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed January 29, 2019 NEW
This was our third time to go to Germaine’s Luau while in Honolulu. WOW is all I can say again! This remote beach location is the perfect setting for a luau. A great family venue for everyone. Vet’s & first-responder’s recognized at show. Everyone quickly becomes “cousins”. BOTTOM LINE: AWESOME! Food and entertainment was perfect. The aloha “spirit” filled the event site, smiling helpful employees, cast and food. They make you to make you feel that you are guests in their backyard luau. Everyone smiles makes you welcome. Cast mingles with guest both pre and post show and are happy to join you for photos and selfies. It all works with the food, entertainment cast, MC and live Hawaiian band. This is how I envision an “old Hawaiian luau" to be. Go, Go, Go. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Everyone loved it! I’m betting you will too. MY RATING: 10/10 From the moment you get picked up at your hotel (if you take this option) your bus guide will get you in the mood for your evening experience. They are great ambassadors for the venue. Donna our local guide was warm and loved showing her love of Hawaii. The ocean beach front setting is picture perfect and timed to see a stunning Hawaiian sunset. WOW! The conch shell call means it’s time to see the pig pit unveiling. After, a Hawaiian prayer is offered as everyone (“family”) holds hands and bows their heads. Afterwards the food lines open. It’s all you can eat. (NOTE: For those paying for the "Plumeria" front row seating section (recommended upgrade) you have a server who brings the food courses to you (no crowed lines to go through). Ticket price includes one alcohol or virgin drink. For those in the upgrade sections, you’ll get three drink tickets. Water, fruit punch and soft drinks are all free & unlimited. The food was delicious and plentiful. MENU included Kalva roasted pig, teriyaki beef, island fish, Hawaiian chicken, rice, green salad, fruit salad, macaroni salad. You will be FULL! Dessert was chocolate & vanilla coconut cake (the only weaker parts of the meal). Dessert needs improvement. VEGETARIAN NOTE: Vegetarian option available if requested 24hr in advance site says. SHOW: The show was amazing with great looking Hawaiian beauties and islands studs. The Polynesia entertainment & dances included Hawaiian, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and Tahiti. The dancers are beautiful to look upon and costumes are colorful and authentic looking. One part to especially be ready with camera in hand to look out for near the end of the show is when the lights dim is the Hawaiian cute girl that does a sloooow hula. Very sexy, backless! The native fire dancer was incredible. The best I have ever seen! WOW! MUST SEE. I can’t give this experience a better rating. It’s a 10/10. Go see it! NOTE: 90% of the venue in located on uneven beach sand for those with mobility problems. Some rear seating on a hard surface may be available. Call Germaine’s. Evenings can be cool and windy. Bring a light jacket to be safe.

"Fun family evening."

We were there with a group of 10 family member’s. We had great seats with a nice view of the stage. There is a beautiful beach view providing the perfect photo setting. The food was so so, but I’m not an adventurous eater. The show was fun, entertaining and educational. The staff were very helpful in advance of the day assisting my daughter’s boyfriend in planning a surprise proposal...she said yes! Buy the tiki mugs in the gift shop. They fill them up for the same price as the little plastic cups. Our family had a fun night to remember.
