Description

from Ferry Services
Blue & Gold Fleet is the premier provider of ferry and water excursion services on San Francisco Bay, providing regular ferry service to Sausalito, Tiburon, and Angel Island.

Angel Island:
Take the Angel Island ferry for a day of fun and history in the middle of the Bay. Angel Island is a California State Park, wildlife preserve and one of the finest historical sites in the Bay Area that includes military garrisons and compounds from every major war dating back to the U.S. Civil War.
Also known as the “Ellis Island of the West,” Angel Island’s Immigration Station was the first stop for millions of Pacific Basin, Asian and Russian immigrants entering the United States. Be sure to check out the newly-restored Immigration Station!

Sausalito Ferry:
Step aboard the Sausalito Ferry for a smooth, comfortable ride to this delightful community just across the Bay. The city of Sausalito offers the charm of a quaint Mediterranean seaside village tucked amongst the hills of Marin County. Meander the narrow streets, browse through art galleries and shops, and dine at some of the best restaurants in the Bay Area, all the while enjoying stunning views of San Francisco.

Tiburon Ferry:
Take the Blue & Gold Fleet Tiburon Ferry for a memorable and relaxing time. Tiburon is a former railroad town that was the terminus of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad until 1963. Since then, it has been transformed into a charming seacoast village. Tiburon’s classic main street offers antique, wine, specialty shops and more. Bring your bike along and leisurely tour the shoreline paths or physically challenge yourself by hiking nearby Mt. Tamalpais.

"Best Christmas Parade Cruise in 20 Years"
December, 2016
I have taken the Lighted Yacht Parade cruise for over 15 years. This year was remarkable because of Capt Tom and Crew. Capt Tom wanted all of us in the spirit and asked that we call attention to our Ferry Boat as we approached the judges viewing area. We all had snacks and drinks and were enjoying the mild night. I tried to pass it along to sing Jingle Bells as we were going but I couldn't get it to catch on. I saw the first mate and asked him to tell the Captain to suggest it on the speaker. Within i minute Capt Tom invited me up and said the singing was a great idea but he needed both hands to manage the boat. He gave me the mic and introduced me as the New Even Coordinator. He and I lead several christmas songs that Everone joined in on. I pointed out other boats and told jokes and everyone was laughing and really having fun. When we passed the judges even people on the toilets were singing. All because Capt Tom and the crew saw an avenue and took it. We had a fantastic evening and I thank Blue and Gold for opening my groups holiday in a Holly Jolly Way!!!!

"Surprisingly worth it"

I'm not normally into "touristy" things when I travel, and this hour-long cruise in the center of Pier 39 rang all sort of warning bells. But it was really cool! I got some amazing photos of the bridge and alcatraz, and $30 was very reasonable for a unique experience.

"Easily the best value of anything we enjoyed in San Francisco"

For $25 round-trip to Tiburon, this was easily the best value of anything we experienced in San Francisco. Heck, you could just take the trip without even getting off the boat, and it would have been well worth your while. Cannot imagine returning to SF and not doing this again....unless some friend pulls up with a private boat....that would be better.

"Dropped a category due to customer service..."

I'm big on customer service, so the rating is below excellent due to poor customer service at the ticket booth. Tour itself was excellent. We did the most popular tour, which gives you great views of the Golden Gate, Alcatraz and the city. The boat was clean, modern and the crew was pleasant. You could easily hear the pre-recorded narration while in route. That said, the cons - To start with, this company is a touch more expensive than the other big company that has red in its colors. We happened to go with this company only because we walked right by it, but after paying realized the other company's tickets were less money for presumably the same experience.. When we got to the ticket booth, we were not greeted by the young woman sitting there. In fact, she was busy rolling her eyes and making comments under her breath about the prior customer. I don't know what happened, but you don't show other customers your disgust over other guests. Keep it to yourself, move on, be pleasant to the next one. She didn't greet me. I said what I was looking for, she had me sign my credit card receipt, and handed me the tickets. She said nothing else. No explanation of where to go (I thought it was obvious, but later had to ask someone else), no "thank you," NOTHING. Not even a smile. She was a robot that handled the transaction. I would be happy to provide the company with more details so that they can better coach this person. Overall would recommend this tour, BUT, also check out the other big tour operator, as they were a little less money per ticket.

"Nice cruise around the bay"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

I've taken the Blue and Gold cruise around the bay a dozen times over the years - mostly when we have friends in from out of town. The one hour ride never fails to put a smile on everyone's face. My wife and I were walking down the waterfront from Pier 39 to Fisherman's Wharf and decided, once more, to take advantage of the nice day and enjoy a cruise around the bay. The water was calm and the views unsurpassed. We sat outdoors on the rear deck and thoroughly enjoyed views of the San Francisco skyline, the Golden Gate and Alcatraz Island. The only minor complaint was the sound system is completely inadequate for a trip on the bay and we only heard perhaps 10% of the dialogue. Unfortunate because the audio tour sounded interesting even though we familiar with the landmarks. I was pleased to find out, after the tour, that there is a way to pipe the tour through your smartphone - we'll have to see how that works the next time we take the cruise. Overall, a very fun and inexpensive way to get a closeup look at landmarks on the bay!

"It was decent"

The cruise was nice, but it sounds fancier on their website than what it is. It’s an older ferry with a bar station downstairs and some tables. They have an older tape that plays for the “guided tour”. It wasn’t bad for the price.
