Description

from Evening Volcano Explorer (Waikoloa/Kohala Pick-Up)
The original evening volcano adventure and still the best!

This tour visits two National Parks. Travel south into Kona coffee country for the first stop at Pu`uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park. Before coffee there was kapu, the ancient Hawaiian system of laws. Should a person break kapu and face almost certain death they could make their way to a place of refuge and be absolved. Pu`uhonau o Honaunau National Historic Park is one of those places of refuge. Explore this historic 420 acre Park with your National Park Service-trained guide and see temple platforms, fishponds, and remnants of ancient life in Hawaii.

Next, head up to Bay View Farm, a working 24-acre coffee farm nestled on the slopes of Mauna Loa Volcano just above beautiful Kealakekua Bay and known for the best Kona coffee since 1984. Here you'll see coffee growing on the trees and learn about the various steps and processes in making coffee, all of which happen right here on the farm. You'll sample 100% Kona Coffee along with a deli-style lunch at a gorgeous overlook with stunning views of Kealakekua Bay and the monument to Captain Cook standing on the only sliver of British land in the United States. The adventure continues as you head through the South Kona and Ka`u Districts. Stunning views, alternating between stark lava flows and Hawaiian dry forest, are visible through the huge picture windows of your tour vehicle. We stop briefly at Punalu`u Bake Shop, the southernmost bakery in America. Offering the finest time-honored Hawaiian sweetbreads since 1991, the Bake Shop offers an array of breads and cookies.

Shortly thereafter, you'll arrive at picturesque Punalu`u Black Sand Beach. Lined with swaying coconut palm trees, this is one of the best black sand beaches on the island. Stroll along the beach and look for honu (Green Hawaiian Sea Turtle) feeding just offshore or sun-worshipping on the sand. Next travel to the brown jewel of Hawaii, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Visit the Kilauea Visitor's Center, the Kilauea Ike Crater Overlook, and Steaming Bluffs. Take a hike out to Keanakakoi Crater and step over the sinkholes and cracks in the roads left behind the historic 2018 eruption here.

Then it's on to the famous Volcano Winery, the southernmost winery in the United States. You'll sample up to eight different types of wines, varying from sweet to dry, and all with a unique Hawaiian flare. The Volcano Winery also has estate grown teas to taste and soft drinks and water are also included. After sampling beverages, you'll enjoy a hearty Hawaiian-style BBQ dinner with a complimentary glass of your choice of Volcano Winery wine or other beverage.

The staff are so entertaining and we had so much fun. It was a beautiful day to be in the hills outside of Hilo and be zipping over some waterfalls and lush scenery. Thanks for a great time Destiny, Ashley and Cody!

"And fresh fruit!"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

Did the helicopter/zip line combo package. Helicopter was first rate...plenty of room and a 180 view. Wesley the pilot was informative and very accommodating to fly on both sides to give everyone a view of rainbows and volcanoes and waterfalls. Music was nice...added to flavor without being overwhelming. Then did zip line. Ride there and back was cramped in a van, road is extremely rocky, and got stuck in traffic on way back. But ziplining itself was way fun. Destiny, ashlay (not Ashlee) and Cody were laid back but funny (and had fun with their jobs), yet did their jobs professionally and made sure everyone was safe Did four zip lines and then took a break for lunch. They advertised fresh fruit...pleasant surprise that it was straight from local plants and bushes...a new adventure in itself. Then did last four zips...last one almost a half mile. Glad they had the top of the line braking system...I may have gone through the platform at my weight. The whole package is a little pricy, but worth it. They asked for suggestions. Maybe music at one station would be cool. Good for all ages. Im turning 50 today and didn’t have issues getting up and around. And they were great with the little kids...even joining them in a “llama power” running joke. Thanks so much!

"Take on the Razor"

This was our second ATV tour. Pros: good ‘clean’ fun, Eddie and Steven were great guides, Razor was great to drive, very quick and responsive. Cons: not really a ‘tour’, just driving around the property with some good time in the seat. We had a blogger group in the tour that took up way too much time with their takes and retakes. We just kept doing circuits where we could to maximise our time. Maybe they can arrange their own tour so they can do what they need to do........... Booking was very easy, as was check in.

"An Amazing Adventure"

We did the Circle of Fire helicopter tour and ziplining, and both were absolutely amazing. They have the best property for ziplining, as it goes over multiple waterfalls. Literally breathtaking. Our ziplining guides were Emily, Tiffany, Waylen and Steven, and they were all a lot of fun. There was nothing negative about the entire experience.
