"What a dump"

We were headed east to some of the restaurants surrounding El Cortez. We decided to gamble here for a bit. In all our trips downtown, we'd never visited. And we'll never go again. I don't think anything has been updated since the 70's. It was dim, smelly and dingy. We spent a few minutes playing craps and left. Yuck.

"Always a fun time"

This is my go to in Las Vegas . The gambling is the best and cheapest in all arenas, the location is in old town and walking distance to anything you could need. It’s old school but it’s awesome because of it. The only downside was this was the first time we stayed in the pavilion side and the rooms were not the best, we also had to walk outside to get to our room on the 5th floor.

"Highway Robbery of Veteran and family"

My family was in the El Cortez for 3 minutes as hotel guests 2/12/19 to 2/15/19 thru hotels.com and surrounded for wearing a hoodie by hotel security in 3 minutes. And they justified it. See below. It is hotel policy to surround anyone wearing a “hoodie” per Mr Dorweiler, manager and it is justifiable to him and the staff. It was not a hoodie, it’s a hijab. Please stop insulting my family. My daughter was hurt, she could not make it to the desk with me, I sat her down. We travelled from out of state to get there at 6 am on 2/12/19. She has a foot handicap from a surgery that was hurt during our travels & on hotel video. She was surrounded instead. Then the hotel tried to overcharge me more than 200 percent of the room price for the same day I already registered, Insulted me for the clothes we wore in February into the hotel. It was 32 degrees. You insulted me to my face. I was Denied early check in that was available per at 8 am at the time of check in and said come back at 1pm or pay $63 more plus resort fee on a room that cost me $28 for the whole day plus fees. I have a National Defense Medal. I have a Letter of Commendation for my participation in the 1994 Miami Exodus. Why was family surrounded in 3 minutes while checking in ? We did nothing but try and check in. Denied. My kids spoke to no one else, minded their own business, exhausted from travel & surrounded by the El Cortez staff on 2/12/19 between 6-7 am within 3 minutes of arriving to check in as hotel guests ? My family was surrounded while I tried to check in and denied. We did nothing wrong. In any way. I was insulted over and over again and my family surrounded Mr Detweiler. Then you tried to highway rob me, I explained it to you. I asked you to make it right. You insult my family & me. You will be answering to someone on this. Everyone answers to someone. And I do not answer to you Sir. I earned my freedoms. US decorated Military Veteran. Look me up Sir. I am a professional that had a hooded jacket on when it was 32 degrees. I am a Repeat guest of the El Cortez. This is what you did to my family in 3 minutes.

"Best place to play blackjack for beginners"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

El Cortez casino has $5 single deck tables for blackjack. The dealers will even help you out if you need assistance. I played for over three hours and managed to break even and had a great time. Slot machines are loose too. And best part of the evening was an 8 oz prime rib dinner cooked perfectly for $12 95!
