Over the years I have had the good fortune to be able to stay at several Disney resorts, but this was my first time at Port Orleans Riverside. I picked this resort to celebrate my 60th Birthday with my husband who is from the south. The grounds are beautiful, the river a nice scenic touch. The river & relaxing boat ride to Disney Springs was one of the main reasons I decided on Riverside. We also enjoyed the carriage ride, which is only one of two on WDW property, the other being over in Fort Wilderness. The nice walking trail over to the French Quarter is lovely day or night. Staying at either of these resorts is a bonus to be able to enjoy the different ambience, food, & Disney theming in such close proximity.

This was our 3rd time staying at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside. The first time was about 17 years ago. The resort was built in 1992. We really love the location of this resort. The grounds are beautiful and the dining area is wonderful. I will say one thing about this resort now that I have stayed in a newly remodeled room at Coronado Springs, this place needs an update. I kept looking around the room trying to make a mental note of all of the things that could be improved. There are many. However, I wouldn't discourage anyone from staying here, it's a very nice resort. I just happen to know that the there are newer nicer rooms at other moderate resorts. And I like newer, nicer when I am on vacation.

"Wonderful first WDW experience!"

My wife and I visited WDW for the first time in early Dec 2018. Staying at Port Orleans Riverside was a great decision for our first time visiting. The resort had really interesting but not over the top theming which allowed a little break from the craziness of the parks but still felt authentically Disney. We had a King Suite in the Alligator Bayou and the room was very nice, cozy and had everything we needed for our trip. It was alittle bit of a walk from our room to the main part of the resort but there was a bus stop near that would take you to the lobby if need be. Being farther from the lobby was actually nice for us as it felt quiet and secluded and again was a nice break from the park atmosphere. The food at the resort was as good as you would expect for a Disney Resort. We never ate at the buffet beside alittle breakfast but we did eat at Boatwrights which was really tasty! All the cast members at this resort were super helpful, they would try there best to make everything perfect for us if we had any questions or concerns and we really appreciated their help throughout our stay! By far the best thing about this resort is the Water Taxi! Its so relaxing to take a nice river cruise from the resort down to Disney Springs for the day, very cool sights on the boat ride!

"First WDW trip"

This was our first trip to Walt Disney World, and I booked a Royal Room as we were going for my wife's birthday. The room was very nice, but could stand for some updating. For example, the wall safe was quite small, as we could only fit our passports, and money into it. It also used a physical key to lock and unlock, something I haven't actually seen anywhere else. Because of this, I had actually left the key in the safe a couple times, forgetting that I needed it. Beyond that, we really enjoyed it. We were in a river view room, so we had a pretty nice view of the main amenities area of the resort. However, there is a drawback to this. The boats that take you to Disney Springs honk a horn as they're coming into the dock area, which you could clearly hear in the rooms. They'd do this until 10 or 11. After a couple of days you do start just tuning them out, but if you're an early sleepier, that could potentially be a problem. We did only eat at the fast service location once and it's pretty typical of fast service food at Disney properties. Not great, but not bad either. The only other resort amenities we used was the general store, which did have good stock of Disney souvenirs and toiletries if you forget them. We didn't have really any time to explore the resort, as we were only there for 5.5 days and we wanted to experience the parks as much as possible.

Loved this resort! Very clean rooms, friendly staff and great restaurant options. Grounds are kept up as well. We were in building 35, thank you to the front desk that gave us both an early check in and a map. After a few trips, it was easy to find. Multiple bus stops at this resort made for much less walking. We will be back.
