"Missed cleaning the drugs"

Bottom line I won't be staying here again - rooms weren't clean to begin with, but when I dropped my phone behind the bed and needed to look underneath I found a real problem - drugs. Overall given the cost of the hotel and the large number of options nearby, I'm very unlikely to stay at the Custom Hotel in the future.

"My home away from home"

I have been pretty much living at the Custom Hotel from June 2018 while visiting Los Angeles because of a major injury which resulted in 5 surgeries on my right knee and needed a temporary place to live because my hospital is not far. The staff here has been incredible to me and has been very accommodating in regards to my vehicle and my dog. From valet, front desk, housekeeping, management to even the restaurant; I couldn’t have asked for anything more accommodating. There were times I was in a wheelchair and couldn’t even walk, everyone here has gone out of their way to help me out which I am truly grateful. The location of the hotel is perfect. The rooms are great and the price is right. The way I have been treated is something I can never forget, especially because this was a very difficult time in my life and my family and close friends are thousands of miles away. They made me feel as if this place is my home. Thank you everyone.

"Big Disappointment"

The hotel is in need of lots of TLC, the lobby is uninviting, the elevator and halls are worn and shabby. The room lacks a closet, only has an exposed metal bar for hanging clothes. There is no dresser. The bed is barely off the floor, would be hard for an older person to navigate. The AC was broken due to an "emergency" We checked in at 8:15 and were gone by 9:00. We did receive a full refund on the room. The hotel is right next to our kids apartment so we really wanted it to work. It is my understanding it was once nice, but is now under new management. For the money you can find a much better place. We ended up at the Sheraton.

"Seems like a party hotel, odd vibe"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

This was the best priced option and five minutes drive to LAX. It was easy to get to the airport by way of hotel shuttle, which was great for our family. However, the entire hotel smelled like weed. I know that pot is legal in CA, but having the waft of weed through the halls of the hotel put a damper on the sense that the place was good for families. The decor of the hotel is nice, mid-century modern and updated, but there is a persistently haunting vibe there. Like it could be the location in the next David Lynch movie. Hallways are dark and not well lit, and again for a family, this is not the vibe we want to have in a hotel. The lobby area has a couple of rows of work tables for those working remotely. There were lots of food options near by. If you can handle the edginess of this hotel, it's a convenient airport for the price.

"Good choice"

It was my first time back in the States in years and I needed a place for a one night stopover. For an airport hotel, this is a solid option. Decent, welcoming lobby, friendly staff at the reception, and comfortable beds with wifi and good water pressure in the shower (I was on the fourth floor). A special thank you to Al, the airport shuttle driver, who was so, so kind and helpful and lovely all around - he's a real credit to the company! If every hotel had proactive and thoughtful employees like that, this world would be a much better place!
