"Great customer service!"
January, 2019
My wife came down with a fierce cold on our trip and the entire staff was extremely accommodating and providing food to bring to our room for my wife to feel better! Granted it might be an older hotel but the staff made us feel like we were staying at the Ritz Carlton! The hotel is centrally located for our vacation and we will definitely be staying there any time we visit San Diego!

"Trip to Paradise"

This hotel is right out of South Pacific. The rooms are very very clean and a nice size. They have large meeting rooms which are nice. The restaurant serves a fixed menu as well as a great breakfast buffet that will stay with you most of the day. Nice pool area with lots of the rooms opening onto the grassy area. Other room open into a courtyard with a waterfall and this hotel has a lot of tables and chairs scattered about which is nice for relaxing. This do allow dogs with a clean area to take them for "potty". Parking is good and it seemed very safe to me. Old town is only 5 minutes away.

"Not the best"

I hate to leave negative reviews but we expect better from Crowne Plazas. Usually Crowne Plazas are very good, clean and staff are friendly. This hotel is old, unclean and the staff are not friendly or helpful. Food was consistent left outside doors and the rooms were not the best, definitely in need of refurbishment.

"Dated But Very Pleasant Hotel"

I was there for 3 nights for a dance workshop. The hotel is Hawaiian-themed, quite dated, but not unpleasant at all. My room was nice. It had a large bedroom with 2 sinks and a tub shower. The balcony was very nice and overlooked the pool. I had a problem with the in-room safe, which maintenance was able to fix, but many of my friends had in-room safes that were inoperable. They say they will soon be upgrading them. In any event, even operable, the safe was tiny, and could not accommodate a laptop. The pool area and surrounding garden are really lovely. The banquet staff was wonderful and the food was very good.

"Outdated and generally unpleasant"

Hotel is poorly lit, outdated, and musty. You can tell they attempted to give it a half-hearted makeover, but it seems very old. There were problems with the reservation that could not be rectified due to some kind of issue with booking.com. Rust in bathroom, stains on carpet, moth-like bugs on ceiling, TV doesn't work. Card reader on door broke the second night so I couldn't get into my room even after new keys were made so I'm writing this review while I wait for a maintenance worker to attempt to fix the door so I can get in. Fortunately, the bed is comfy and the air conditioning works. And the girl in the Kona cafe was delightful. Snacks and beverages were also well priced. But overall, I am not impressed and surely will not be staying here again. If you need a place to relax in the evenings while on business, this is not the hotel you want to choose.

"Not as it looks"

The hotel doesn’t look as it does in the pictures... The beds were poorly made, the carpets were really dirty, sometimes the cards to enter the room didn’t work correctly, the light of the bathroom turned down automatically while you were taking a shower and it was a pretty away form down town. I wouldn’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
