from Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
Before she was Carole King, superstar—she was Carol Klein, teenage songwriter. She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and, by the time she reached her twenties, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice.

BEAUTIFUL tells the inspiring true story of Carole King’s remarkable rise to stardom from being part of a chart-topping songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music. She wrote the soundtrack to a generation.

This show is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes (1 intermission). Appropriate for all ages.

We saw 4 Broadway shows on our mother-daughter trip to NYC. This was hands down our favorite! They were all really good but this one really grabbed us. I was in charge of the bookings for our trip and I was drawn to this one. I’m mid 50’s, the other mother is early 70’s so I thought this was one we’d really enjoy. Our daughters are early 30’s and as I was consulting with my daughter, she was kind of hesitant — she didn’t know her music. I assured her that King had written many popular songs and felt sure she would know some. I went ahead and booked with the attitude, if they don’t like it you can blame me. The story line kept us totally hooked in and the music is incredible! We had close seats on one show we went to and I felt a little distance would have been better. We were on the front row for Beautiful and it was absolutely awesome!! Would definitely see it again!!
